The Wild's draft picks coming back to Buffalo in Matt Moulson trade are a second-rounder in 2014 and second-rounder in 2016, source says..

that 2nd will be the 2nd from wpg that the wild got for seto

Murray stated he'd do something like that since the Sabres have plenty of currency. He wanted prospects who are one or two years into their development. No surprise at all.

The only prospects he got was a mediocre defenseman turned forward who is 23 and a guy who is 19 and just started playing in the NCAA. That's not really what I was envisioning.

To sum up: Sabres send Matt Moulson, Cody McCormick to Wild for Torrey Mitchell, two second-round picks ('14, '16). '14 came from Winnipeg.

net effect:

Vanek == Colberg + 2nd.....
Moulson + 1st + 2nd == Vanek
2014 2nd(WPG)+ 2016 2nd + Mitchell == Moulson + McCormick

Vanek +Moulson+ NYI 1st+ NYI 2nd + 2014 2nd WPG+2016 2nd MIN+ Mitchell == Moulson+McCormick + Vanek+Colberg+2nd

cancel both sides of equation

14/15 MYI 1st+ NYI 2015 2nd + WPG 2014 2nd +MIN 2016 2nd + Mitchell == Vanek +McCormick

Jarnkrok was the only guy traded today who fits what Murray was looking for. It's safe to say teams aren't trading them at the deadline. Maybe the draft.

I think its better than this..... Dont really consider Moulsen or Halak a loss since they were acquired and traded in same year.

As Takeo asked, can someone now identify what draft picks we have for 2014, 2015 and 2016?

BUF 1st '14
NYI 1st 14*
STL 1st '14*
BUF 2nd '14
MIN 2nd* '14
WPG 2nd '14

No 3rd,4th.

NYI *: Top 10 protected -----> defer to 2015
STL 1st: If The blues make the WCF or re-sign Miller, the 2014 3rd round pick becomes a 1st round pick, if he's re-signed after the draft, 2016 2nd.

BUF 1st '15
NYI 1st '15
STL 1st '15
BUF 2nd '15

BUF 1st '16
BUF 2nd '16
MIN 2nd '16

So Stewart, Conacher, Mitchell, Klesla and Neuvirth don't do it for ya?

Stewart, Conacher, Mitchell, Klesla, and Neuvirth are not prospects.

Two of them are borderline NHL players with essentially no value, Conacher and Stewart are decent top 9 NHL forwards who probably won't be on the team in two years. I am happy with Neuvirth, but having to give up Halak + 3rd to get him wasn't really that great.

If this deadline didn't do it, what will make it clear to you that the elite prospects (Etem, Toffoli, et al.) are simply not being moved?
