Part of the process. Besides, while Stemps was a pretty big piece for us he was really the only guy we're going to miss. Gelinas and Matteau barely played and when they did they weren't exactly difference makers.

Overall I'd say Gelinas/Matteau were good deals. Especially Gelinas. Both just didn't have a future here.

Stempniak was a hard one to do but a 2nd/4th from a tryout is nothing to complain about. Hopefully the good ties between NJ and Stempniak see him return in the summer.

Apparently they offered him a $1 million buyout option to go away immediately but he refused to pay the buyout and is now just sitting out the rest of the season.

So we're gonna have to deal with this crap AGAIN in the offseason, oh joy.

I'll be amazed if we don't turn those draft picks into another player by the draft.

I don't want him anywhere near this team. I would imagine the few carryovers that played with him here, probably don't think too highly of him either. I don't think our owners of the new management want him around either, neither does Lou with the Leafs.

Unless the conspiracy theorists were right, and that he and Lou really concocted this whole thing to get him off the books. I don't believe that was the case though, especially with what's going on now over. I never really did believe that.

It's not like he's really an elite player anymore either, despite the fact that he'd probably be our best offensive forward right now. Zajac, Henrique, Larsson, Greene, Kinkaid, those might be the only guys on the team that played with him, not counting Elias and Gionta who probably won't be here next year.
