Huge News coming out of NYC!

:rangers

The Rangers have traded stalwart defensive d-man Dan Girardi to the Dallas Stars (while retaining 50% of his salary for the rest of this season). In exchange, the Rangers have received skilled forward Jason Dickinson, blossoming power forward Brett Ritchie and Dallas' 2nd '14.

We wish Dan well and hope he and the Stars make a long run in the playoffs. He is an absolute warrior and great leader but we felt the need to get younger and start to build around the likes of Stepan, Kreider and McDonagh and feel the players we received will help with that.

The Dallas Stars have acquired defenseman Dan Girardi from the New York Rangers in exchange for prospects Jason Dickinson and Brett Ritchie, as well as Dallas' 2nd round pick in 2014.

Dan has been a number one defenseman with the Rangers for a few years now. We believe he'll be a great fit with Goligoski, Gonchar, and Robidas as our top-4. A defenseman of his calibre was greatly needed and we're very happy to have him. We feel with the way Alex Chiasson has been playing, we felt Brett Ritchie was expendable and we addressed a position of need.

Jamie Benn - Tyler Seguin - Valeri Nichushkin
Ray Whitney - Cody Eakin - Alex Chiasson
Antoine Roussel - Rich Peverley - Erik Cole
Dustin Jeffrey - Shawn Horcoff - Ryan Garbutt
Vernon Fiddler

Alex Goligoski - Dan Girardi
Sergei Gonchar - Stephane Robidas
Trevor Daley - Brendan Dillon
Jamie Benn

Kari Lehtonen
Dan Ellis

The Dallas Stars send defenseman Kevin Connauton to the AHL.

:stars Trevor Daley is available for a bottom pairing RHD and a draft pick, or a prospect and a draft pick. He has a NTC so make sure you're a team that he will accept a trade to.

Vernon Fiddler and Ryan Garbutt are also available.

:jets UPDATE

Our priority is to move Dustin Byfuglien. We had some talks but nothing serious at the moment.

Mark Stuart is also available for teams looking for a physical bottom pairing defenseman. We are only asking for a 2014 3rd round pick at this point.

PM!

Willing to discuss Dion Phaneuf, Nikolai Kulemin, Carter Ashton, Carl Gunnarsson, Paul Ranger, Mark Fraser, James Reimer, Frazer McLaren, and several others. Not moving Kessel, Lupul, JVR, Clarkson, or Rielly. Hoping to move Liles for either another defenceman needing a change of scenery, or a forward of the same situation.

This.

For teams needing goaltending, Reimer is available but we want fair market value. We're equally happy re-signing him.

If looking for a playoff rental, we have Dion Phaneuf, Nikolai Kulemin, Paul Ranger, Mark Fraser, and Colton Orr available.

On a longer term, we have Carl Gunnarsson who could be had, as well as JML, Carter Ashton. Same with Cody Franson.

All in all, we're not doing a fire sale so we are looking to make moves that are beneficial both now and the future.

Marcel Goc (50% retention)

While we were pretty keen on re-signing Marcel, we saw this opportunity to gain more value in the upcoming draft as a must-make move. We will still make a run at signing Marcel Goc in the FA period as we feel he is a great fit in Florida, and he will bring a lot of experience after a nice playoff run in San Jose.

Talks for Dmitry Kulikov are picking up, if you're interested in this young defenseman I suggest sending a PM over to us ASAP.

Tampering- we demand Florida's 1st as compensation!

Confirm- We gave up a **** load, but Marcel Goc, Raffi Torres, and Tyler Kennedy will give us a fourth line that can shut down other teams 2nd lines, and allows Pavelski, Nieto, and Wingels feast on someone's fourth line. Thornton-Couture-Pavelski-Goc is undeniably the best center group in the league.

Now, time to improve the defense.

San Jose is looking to send Mueller, our 1st, and Freddie Hamilton/Chris Tierney for a top 4 d-man on the left side.

:sharks waive Mike Brown, if your fourth line sucks, you should probably claim him, he has been an awesome fourth liner for us.

Claim

Lots of moves to come and we're going to need to avoid the salary floor. Liked Brown's growth since his time in Vancouver to present day. Enjoy the re-build, Mike.

I'm hearing some big rumblings out of Vancouver. Either some big trade talks or Canucks GM Nuckles hasn't had anything to eat today.

Following players are on the block...

Craig Anderson
Jared Cowen
Milan Michalek
Cory Conacher
Patrick Wiercioch
Eric Gryba/Joe Corvo

Cowen will probably end up staying, he's only moving for an upgrade. Same can be said for Conacher and Wiercioch too, but I'm more open to moving them. All the others can go for picks/prospects. As far as Anderson is concerned, that's probably more of an off-season move.

The following are being shopped around:
Ryan Miller
Matt Moulson
Drew Stafford
Tyler Ennis
Ville Leino

Looking for young, high end offensive talent.

PM
Update

Miller will be dealt by tonight so get your offers in!

The best offer on Moulson remains a first and a prospect.

We have received some inquiries on Christian Ehrhoff and Steve Ott, not looking to move Ehrhoff and our first priority is to resign Ott, but I will listen to offers on both.

Surprisingly the others have received very little interest, especially Leino ;).

@HockeyyOutsiderr
A source told me that Nuckles had pizza for lunch, and that the Canucks have acquired a top 6 forward pending a NTC waive.

Around for trade talks. You can pretty well ask about anyone except for Getzlaf and Perry, of course. Fowler, Etem and Lindholm will be hard to get.

Still shopping the players in the post quoted. Would like to move Mark Stuart tonight and I'm open to ideas.
