canes get the guy with a ton of long term upside. Leafs fill their 2 biggest needs, and create cap space to retain kap and johnsson.

The Canes are fighting for a playoff spot, why would they trade Ferland.

I don't think they will unless they trade for another winger with a long-term contract in place.

Getting Zucker from Minnesota for a prospect + draft pick, then flipping Ferland to recover draft pick would make a ton of sense here.

So McPhee just doesn't give a **** that half his blue line are either feasibly replaceable or in dire need of replacement. I get that scoring is in a slump but that seems to be a mental team wide thing and perhaps some deficiency out of Gallant.

He has a pretty strong record of providing a team weak defense.
