Leafs were the better team through the first 25 minutes, and rode a 4 goal lead to the end of the game. Naturally when a team has a lead like that they let off the gas.

they won because there was a 24.3% gap in the starting goalie's save percentages

edit: ie if the canucks were facing miller this game, they would have scored 13 goals

Miller isn't elite. Never has been.

He did have one elite season 5 years ago.

But otherwise yeah. This is going pretty much exactly as many of us had predicted. Except I thought Miller would produce average numbers in a typical starter workload, not below-average numbers while getting a sheltered creampuff workload.

And because Vancouver had 6 powerplays and 0 goals.

I guess I was just splitting hairs but what I meant is that he was never an elite goalie just because he had one elite season. Kind of like, hopefully, no one thinks Brian Elliott was ever an elite goalie.

bernier was a very important part of the penalty kill?

edit: anyway, one of their goals was scored a second or so after one expired so it's not really a valid argument. the powerplay was effective enough to generate a lot of good chances including, yes, a goal

We were easily the better team in the first period and their goals came completely against the run of play.

Panik lifts Higgins stick = penalty. What was the penalty again? And Burrows doesn't get an unsportsmanlike penalty. right?

Leafs played 60 minutes of grab ass... Pretty hard to get shots on goal, when your hands are grabbing the other team's ass.

What time is it? 4 past Miller and yanked. Jeeze why did this guy get 6 MIL! We could have had a RH PMD and good 2nd line winger or Santorelli back for that! Think about that!

On the Leafs board they think they played great and only was close because of "the refs." This in a game where they mauled players the entire time with no call, and got away with a malicious elbow to the head that may result in injury. Oh, and they think the announcing favored Vancouver too! Just goes to show how different perception can be...

That's why the Leafs haven't been in the finals for 48 years, yet they still think they're the center of the universe. Winning the cup in a 6 team league 48 years ago and they still think they're hot. Hahaha. Fanbase of Kevin Lowes right there.

 No way they got out played from the start to finish, first period is still fresh in my mind we had some great point blank chances especially the one with Vrbata alone in the slot Bernier was the difference tonight not team in front of him. Hockey gods just didn't want it to go down in our favor for some reason just like they allowed us to win in SJ earlier in the season.

Bernier stole it for them, no other way to put it. That being said, they deserved the goals the got, even though a couple were softies. We had too many defensive lapses and odd-man rushes this game. Our defensemen were a bit too reckless in the offensive zone and practically handed them goals. It just wasn't the best performance for the team, and it's the first game where they really seemed to be missing Hamhuis.

I'm not even mad. We dominated play and had Miller drop the ball in the first. With Hamhuis and Lack in to start, that game is 2-1 at best. Even Kassian playing changes that game.

Maybe this'll even get Benning to make a move to shore up our D.

Canucks certainly gave it an effort and were in many ways the better team. Some muddled defensive zone coverage and poor goaltending put them too much behind the eight ball.

Team in general played well and really liked the play of Vey. He is starting to come after a slow start. Like to see him step it up on the PP however.

Also thought Hansen and Dorsett were excellent

Team missed Matthais in trying to come back and hope he isn't too badly hurt. Clear elbow by Robidas and should be a suspension but give the Vancouver factor likely nothing.

Miller needs to be better. Looked very bad on the crucial second goal when he started swinging side to side to follow the player stick handling. Needs to settle down and keep his position. Lack looked like he should have been the whole game. Maybe need to ride him if he looks hot.
