I know it's not permanent, but he walked right into that one and I would've been stupid not to mention it.

Yes I know about the robot thing, the guy above told me. You just set that one up on a tee for me, I had to swing at it.

So, what’s your “point” here??

My point is that Krug should not be playing top 4 minutes.

Ya, who cares about goals for and against when your team is struggling to find wins, oh wait, we could be a top 5 team in P% with a win tonight..... nevermind. To brush off my arguments as simple stats in a vacuum is deflection at it's finest. Whoever scores the most goals comes out with 2 points. Whoever allows the least goals gets 2 as well. The mark of a good team is scoring more goals than you allow. It's ok to admit you're wrong
Exactly. So to AVERAGE it out, is stupid. Because if you're up by 3 goals and then score in garbage time, that's a meaningless goal. So to average it out and act like that tells the whole story, is ignorant. If a guy scores 7 points in game 1 of a playoff series that goes 7 games, and doesn't score at all for the rest of the series, he's a point a game player for the series. Averages mean nothing.

You have an interesting way of making your “points” but you bring nothing but your opinion which you can’t backup

Like what? Am I supposed to buy a capture card and rip the game to my harddrive, and edit together a video package of every bad play he makes? I've already illustrated why blindly regurgitating averages and advanced stats can be misleading, and to base your entire opinion on a player on them is lazy. If you watch the games and are objective about it (which many people on here, are not) it's blatantly obvious as to why a lot of us feel as though he shouldn't be playing against top 6 forwards.

Based on what?

I know you haven’t paid attention, but I don’t do stats. I just see what I see.

You people killing Krug are gonna destroy Grizz when he doesn't score 50 points a year. Grizz has been very good but its a kid who knows hes likely to get benched regardless of how he plays fighting for his NHL career since it could be a year until his next extended run in the bigs if guys stay healthy.

Krug's unfortunately raised the bar too high for himself in Boston 50-60 points a year are expected with him but he doesn't get fed tons of ice time. But hes a good player. Still leading our D in points.

I guess Wideman comps are fair. 2008 Wideman might have been better and more important to the team than Chara Norris consideration was warranted he was excellent in our turn around. 2010 wheels fell off completely.

Biggest problem with Krug isn't him its that there is no ideal partner for him. If McAvoy and Carlo weren't so young this wouldn't be an issue but it is.

But our GM can only draft and develop he doesn't make trades. Gotta live with what we have at least until the summer. Torey will be unbelievably easy to trade if it ever comes to it 25 teams will call and offer a good package of players/picks.

Me too. Guess we just see differently. Oh well.

No hard feelings man and I’m certainly not trying to shut you up. You can have your opinions, all I’ve been asking (and others have) is to backup what you’re saying. Enjoy the game and the run they’re on man, this is fun. Life’s too short to be seeing things so negatively all the time. Trust me. :thumbu:

I seriously doubt you watch the games.

find it funny/ironic that those who applaud Cassidy for publicly stating he wants more from Krug would be persecuting Claude if he had of done the same

Bruins notebook: Torey Krug plans to fix any flaw in his defensive game

Yeah, it is. You’ve got to be conscious of it, but the way that I play, the way that I skate, you just have to make sure you’re better with it and I’ll definitely make sure I’ll do my best to fix that problem,” Krug said after yesterday’s morning skate.
The benching during regulation play might have been mildly surprising, but more so during the 3-on-3 overtime, which is one of Krug’s specialties. Krug admitted his game may have slipped imperceptibly to him, though he obviously wasn’t thrilled sitting out the overtime.
“You don’t notice it until someone points it out,” said Krug. “You still feel like you can contribute and help the team win and when the team goes into OT, you still want to be out there and help the team win and you feel like you can. It’s a little upsetting, but it is what it is and you’ve just got to move on.”
He is the quarterback of the Bruins’ first power-play unit, which has struggled lately including going 0-for-5 against Washington. But Krug believes they did everything but score.

On the surface it seems he gets it and appreciates the criticism. Let’s hope that’s what the reality is

then you are refusing to see the obvious factor(s) that make(s) it different, and that would be downright silly.

One thing I have learned about Krug is that he a big time competitor. He has a lot of pride in his game and wants to win. I have confidence that he will do what it takes to improve in the areas where there are shortcomings (no pun intended). Despite some of his recent struggles it's not like he has been a dud. He still has been contributing and has made some excellent defensive plays over the past couple weeks. I am not in the least bit worried about Krug ironing things out.

Agree with this pretty much. Krug's been hot dogging it too much lately. He knows it; pretty confident he'll clean up his act. He plays poorly when he plays too loosey goosey. When he's more deliberate and conservative in his play, paradoxically, he plays better, IMO.

8th in the NHL in even strength points among defensemen (19th in total points). Funny how everyone says he's nothing but a PP specialist but only 5 of his points are on the PP (compare to Shattenkirk with 11).

This guy has his flaws and he's far from the first choice you'd have for a guy clearing the crease but he does so many other things to help the team, it's really unbelievable the hate he gets.

I think he felt some pressure from Mac being here and the kids coming soon. Maybe he wanted to get back to the big points and tried to hard. He was doing more then needed and it taxed him. He needs to do what Chara did, accept what it is and play within your game (wish Chara would handle the puck less). Spooner has finally accepted it and I think Krug will do less and end up doing more. He can let Carlo carry it more and skate it out and not baby him. To me it looked like Carlo was told to do that and he is trying to be more offensive. Now if Carlo could get a mean streak when he fills into a man's body, look out. It takes time for chemistry for partners to level out and feed of each other equally.

I probably have been the longest poster wanting to trade Krug. Saying that, my reasoning is based on how I view the team, present and future. I see him as the most expendable player that would get us the best return. Not by himself but in a package deal. By best return I include player (s) coming back and CAP implications. Having never met him, I have no hate for him, or any other player. I just want to ice the best team possible.

I guess when the team is winning, we must find something to complain about. I don't think Krug has been playing up to his potential but he isn't bringing this team down. He's s vital part of what they do. Needs to adjust a little. It's Cassidy's job to see and point it out. Cassidy didn't seem to worried. Neither should we. I think we all know what type of player he is. Picking on his defense is like picking on Carlo or McQuaids offense.
