The answer to the question you asked was clearly in the post you replied to, last paragraph.
Arbitrarily claiming that you know better than literally everybody who does this as their job, based entirely on the vague possibility of a much milder recession than the one we already had that didn't have the impact on the cap that you're suggesting (even without the additional revenue sources we'd have now), is not an answer, especially when the potential for recession was already factored in to any projections. The cap was not stagnating without the pandemic. We'd be in the high 80s right now, with a lot more growth to come.

At the point where you said a milder recession than the last one, cements the fact you don't have damn clue what you are talking about, all financial indicators showed we were headed for a deep deep recession. Even a certain part of the political spectrum is calling the pandemic "The Great Reset", inferring that this pandemic was a ruse to hide the impending economic collapse. I don't believe that theory but even the wingnuts knew that this economy was headed for a deep dive.

The inevitable recession was not factored in, the actual amount of the cap varies on a year-to-year basis, and is calculated as a percentage of the League's revenue from the previous season. You just pulling false statements out of your ass to try and discount the reality that Dubas and many other GM's were irresponsible with their cap management.

I don't get posters like you that want to debate a point with demonstrably false statements. If your intent is to not have an honest debate, why argue a point?

The 2008 recession was considered the worst financial crisis since the great depression, and there were no indicators that suggested an upcoming recession on that level. During that worse recession, the cap also continued to increase fairly significantly, even without the revenue sources we would have now, so your claims about recession impacts on the cap are baseless to begin with. The pandemic is the only reason we are seeing a flat cap or anything close to it. The cap was rising to ~85m for the following year, and would be in the high 80s at this point.
The inevitable recession was not factored in
The possibility of recession was factored in to future projections of the cap by people way more informed and knowledgeable than you. It didn't change the fact that it would continue to see significant growth.
If your intent is to not have an honest debate, why argue a point?
That is a great question you should be asking yourself.

Which benefits the players or owners?

The revenue split is the revenue split.

If league revenues are lower than projected the players pay the owners, if they are higher than projected the owners pay the players, all based on caphit%.
