Agreed, could post this exact same thought in the Murray thread, that was bumped after 1 game.

Because he played with the same issues that have in fact worsened with a 5 year sample size

New season, new coaches. Too lazy to count any player out in a new opportunity, even if the odds are against them. Samsanov may be an example of that too, we will see.

What does a new season and new coach have to do with his left shoulder? Is it going to magically heal within the next week? That combined with his declining athleticism is why he can't make a save top left because he drops early and can't raise his glove up fast enough

Some of y'all spend waaay too much time worrying about Toronto fans enjoying a short stint by their goalie.

Ah yes, the exact things that Leafs fans are doing in the Jack Campbell thread. And to be completely honest, nearly every thread on this forum. Your post comes off as satire. But it isn't.

You are just proving his point.

Ironic isn't it?

Sammy makes impressive looking saves, but it's usually because he's out of position and relies on his athleticism to occasionally bail him out. His positioning is generally bad. His angles are frustratingly off at times. Yes, he can get hot, but his hot streaks don't last long (hence the back-and-forth with Vanacek, who is less talented but plays a more reliable/consistent game). His rebound control is poor and he also has issues tracking the puck. He's also not particularly good at playing the puck; he's had multiple boneheaded mistakes behind the net that have resulted in trouble, if not a goal against. (These are usually the result of poor communication, which is another issue). Normally, you can count on him for one bad to really-bad goal per game.

But, former first round pick, raw talent., etc. etc. Also the Caps goalie coach is terrible, so maybe a better coach can get more out of him. But at this point you're not still counting on potential. He's a reclamation project.
Thanks I was looking for a reflective perspective from a Caps fan that saw him play and why the Caps would let a fairly young former first rd pick go for nothing. The Rangers were able to get multiple picks for Georgiev, for the Caps not even being to work out a trade to get something for him and to not QO Samsonov I found peculiar given he is still fairly young as to why his stock had fallen so much.
