Hopefully he isn’t out too long. He is exactly what we need, big, physical, strong defensively. Personally I think we should try to move Muzzin in the offseason but roll with this as our D framework:

Rielly Brodie
?????? Liljegren
Sandin Lyubushkin

The nice thing is while I believe Lyubushkin should be a third pairing guy he has shown he can step up to play higher on the D pairings. The question is what will he command in the offseason.
Muzzin is by far far the best defensive dman of leafs... no reason to trade him away this season.

Before he get injured for the 1st time ( not when he came back and was still clearly injured) toronto was 5th (AN 15). Campbell had 0.931 of saves %.

Since he get injured, leafs started struggle defensivly, goalie started struggle too and Now toronto is 18 th. campbell without Muzzin in the line up is at 0.850 saves %

Trading Muzzin this off-season will just make leafs worst than right now.

No, but next season you'll know better.
Who cares about next season. He might not even be on the team. This season, he was a cheap add to our D who brings a heavy physical game night in and out, clears the crease, etc. Comparing him to adding Chiarot, he is not only better but way cheaper.

You seem to be thinking Leaf fans are claiming this guy is a savior or something when all we are saying is he has come here, played top 4 minutes well and done things other D don't do on our team. He has been a good add for us

Never said any of that, but you don't care obviously.

Bush is mediocre at best, Leaf fans will hate him within 6 months if he's still on Toronto.

If he is playing as a bottom pairing D man I think he is great at that role and adds the qualities I mentioned which we very much need. If he is put on your first pairing or even second pairing for extended periods his lack of offence and his defensive acumen will be exposed.

Look at Bogo, once he was cast as a third pairing D man he really thrived. Same goes for Lyubushkin.

All of that is true about Brodie as well. Not sure what the debate is, only watch every game. At this point of their careers it's Brodie and not close

It’s crazy how overrated every single new Leafs player is

Is it? When Leaf players get claimed on waivers almost everytime? When the Leafs let players go who were "overrated" and they are good players for other teams for years? I mean, this very thread Ritchie was seen as a cap dump AHLer and Dubas signed him to a terrible deal. Now it has changed, he is worth the deal and a good player again.

Maybe the Leafs just have good players? No one is claiming Bush is the best physical dman in the league. But compared to Chiarot, he is easily a better player.

Im not telling brodie is not good just telling Muzzin is the best one for one big reason is brodie is not enough physical. Clear the front of the net, battle for rebound or neutralize a player in front of the net is not brodie strenght.

Brodie will be good to protect in zone for the rush, using his sticks, be in good position but overal Muzzin have just more tool than Brodie defensive side.

Then we are disagreeing on defense I guess. I agree with you Muzz is the more physical player obviously. Brodie though is more reliable, and by that I mean you can put him with literally anyone and they look good. Muzz - Holl was really good but then sucked this year. Holl has been bad with everyone he has played with but Brodie on his LD. Then he switches sides and plays RD and is the perfect partner for Rielly letting him do his thing and he is always in position back protecting the rush with his gap control.

But Muzz has issues defending off the rush. Unless they are giving him a line to hit, he simply can't pivot at this stage of his career if you force him to defend outside of a defined system, he looks bad. Brodie looks good both in chaos and structure.

so far soo good, I expect him to not be the best but throw some hits and make teams pay on dump ins.
He just needs to stay physical and not cost us too many goals against and he should be fine.

Ritchie 8 goals in 16 Coyote games...
good for him, he really didn't fit in our style of play. our style involves a ton of fwd movement in the zone and Ritche just couldn't keep up. However if you guys found a roll he thrives in, thats awesome!! good for him!
