Wait, what? Ian MacKaye. Ian MacKaye is an absolute genius. Aside from Minor Threat...how about what he did with Fugazi?

The way Fugazi was able to stay true to their DIY principles and still be as successful as they were...it is truly admirable. And Ian MacKaye is a gigantic reason for this.
Let's not forget his best band, Embrace. (I realize I'm probably alone in thinking this.)

Nofx - Punk in Drublic is in my top 10 along with Rancid - Out come the Wolves.

This is a beautiful album, can listen to it anytime. I love the sound and am always on the lookout for anything that sounds similar.

Punk in Drublic was one of the first punk albums I've ever owned. Saw NoFX this summer and they did this album in it's entirety. Of course, they did it in true NoFX fashion and played whatever songs they felt like playing

Saw Rancid do And Out Come the Wolves last year and again there was some sentimental value to seeing that. I saw Rancid for the first time when I was 12 and went to the back of the venue and met Tim and Lars. Still have their autographs on a ticket stub. They nailed it too.

Ok I've had some time to think, in no order:

The Clash - The Clash (1977)*
The Clash - London Calling (1979)
Descendents - Milo Goes to College (1982)
Bad Religion - Suffer - (1988)
Hüsker Dü - Zen Arcade (1984)

Leftöver Crack - **** World Trade (2004)
Operation Ivy - Energy (1989)
Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables (1980)
Minor Threat - Complete Discography (1989)
Buzzcocks - Singles Goin' Steady (1979)

HM: Ramones - Ramones (1976)
HM: Bad Brains - Bad brains (1982)
HM: Alkaline Trio - Alkaline Trio (2000)
HM: NOFX - Punk in Drublic (1994)

Honestly just not a big Ramones fan but it feels wrong leaving them out.

*Prefer the US version

Ok, I'm going to attempt this. My list will mostly be 90's/00's albums. So, I guess it can't be really considered "All time". Rather, my all time favourites.

1. Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues- Strung Out
2. Making Friends- No Use For A Name
3. Supporting Caste- Propagandhi
4. Twisted By Design- Strung Out
5. Forever And Counting- Hot Water Music
6. Exit English- Strike Anywhere
7. Career Suicide- A Wilhelm Scream
8. Shake Your Body Politic- Bombs Over Providence
9. Pennybridge Pioneers- Millencolin
10. Together Again For The First Time- Pulley

This good stuff! Thanks for reminding me of Hot Water Music, I forgot about them. In the nineties, they were sugary poppy good! Must check what are they up to now.

However, the best punk album of the nineties must be...

Nation of Ulysses, 13-Point Program To Destroy America

Never was big into punk but I had the Return of the Living Dead soundtrack on cassette tape and that lead me to buy some used cassettes/CD's of The Cramps , 45 grave and T.S.O.L

The cramps stuff was great (45 grave and TSOL were up and down)

Certainly the Cramps are top tier punk group ,, I don't see much mention of them in this thread

Best punk album of the 90s is Destroy Oh Boy by the New Bomb Turks.

I used to like this as a teen. Now, I think it's a good ol' foked up rock and roll and I still love the way it kick-starts with Born Toulouse..., but I also think, for all its ugly drive, it represents the least interesting side of "punk".

Straight-forward dumb and roll that is not dumb enough. When all is said and done and smoked, I think this is why a lot of punk music is such a bore.

Mainly the punk music that is widely deemed as the epitome of punk. Clash, Pistols, Kennedys.

I would rather listen to Beat Happening or Suicide. Or even foking post-rock.

Anyway, I'll spin Born Toulouse-Lautrec once again

I'll try to make it a little diverse. It's in no particular order.

Descendents - Milo Goes to College
Poison Idea - Feel the Darkness
Propagandhi - Potemkin City Limits
Dillinger Four - Midwestern Songs of the Americas
Tragedy - Vengeance
NOFX - So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes
Bad Religion - No Control
Misfits - Static Age
Stiff Little Fingers - Inflammable Material
The Lawrence Arms - Oh! Calcutta!

HM's for some compilations/EP's.

Negative Approach - Negative Approach
Rudimentary Peni - Farce
Black Flag - First Four Years
Poison Idea - Pick Your King
Reagan Youth - A Collection of Pop Classics

Was tempted to include Jane Doe by Converge but that may be just outside the boundaries.

It would take me a while to sift thru & create my top 10.. but from the top I'd have,

Misfits- Walk Among Us
Black Flag- Slip it In

I think the Offspring had some good, complete albums in the 9os. And I used to like a lot of Victory Records' hardcore albums & EPs (same era), but don't think the Victory releases would be all-time top 10 material..

Honestly I've warmed up a lot to Infirmary since then, might even change S/T to that, but maybe not. I remember seeing them play at Montclair State way back very early in the 2000s. The irony is that I got a lot more into Alkaline like 8-10 years later when I was in college lol.

Honestly tho if I updated this list right now, I'd probably swap out at least half the albums. Maybe I'll do that after work.

Misfits - Walk Among Us
Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
Dead Kennedys - Frankenchrist
The Dead Milkmen - Big Lizard in My Backyard
The Offspring - Smash
Pennywise - Full Circle
Clash - London Calling
Rancid - Out Come the Wolves
Sublime - Sublime
Operation Ivy - Energy

No order, and some different ones from the ones already in this thread. Misfits was hard to pick because they didn't really do the whole album thing, and I didn't want to pick the boxset that Jerry Only fought with Danzig to get released. Sublime is definitely the biggest stretch as punk on there, but they're just an example of how varied punk can be, at least for me.

I've heard those and definitely agree, need to check out the rest though.

For newer age stuff:

Menzingers - On the Impossible Past
Menzingers - Rented World
Gaslight Anthem - Sink or Swim
Bouncing Souls - How I Spent My Summer Vacation
Against Me! - New Wave
Japandroids - Celebration Rock
Blink 182 - Dude Ranch
Alkaline Trio - Goddamnit!
Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American
Flogging Molly - Drunken Lullabies

Tried to keep out pop-punk stuff. Menzingers are probably my favourite band, their lyrics really shine and I think they nailed the production of their sound. Sink or Swim is a great punk album front to back. Celebration Rock is just a fun album. Dude Ranch has some really endearing and genuine lyrics and hooks that are more rough around the edges.
