They have 7 pending UFAs and should be able to trade them all. They also have an extra goalie (Darth Vladar) who could get a pick.


Calgary has the opportunity to make a large haul for sure.

Which means they'll sign all seven UFAs to 8 year extensions.
Yeah, the Panthers sold everything when Tallon came in and had 4 picks in the top 33 and 10 picks in the top 100. Calgary could have a better haul than that and if they don't get the worst draft of the decade like the Panthers did, then they'll be in a good spot.

Different situation. Plus the Flames are ahead in two areas: Their AHL team is going great and their young players are coming through at the NHL level. A Flames rebuild doesn't have to take as long as others' have - the key is to move all 7 pending free agents (all of them), draft a pile of players and let the organization's staff do their thing.
