I call it "A list of players with fewer goals than Patrick Eaves" .

Ondrej Pavelec at 9... because any time you have the change to add an UFA goalie with a below average save percentage who has already cleared waivers once this year and is incapable of letting in less than 3 goals a game... you have the pull the trigger.

Uh.... K.

This is more a list of 'best players available for trade'. Trade bait suggests that it's actually reasonable to acquire said player. It's going to take a truck-full of assets to get anything for the guys at the top of the list at the deadline, let alone the off-season.

I could quite easily see 10 of these 20 players at least, staying put.

I did some research and found out he plays for a team based in Canada.

I don't think most of those players move pre-deadline. A lot of these players are off-season trades.

Is the list ordered the same way for us?

In the first 10 I see 7 players who are pending UFAs, 5 of them playing for teams firmly out of the playoffs, and the other 2 play for St Louis, who just fired their coach and had a guy tear up his knee.

Of the remaining 3, 2 play for the Colorado Tire-Fire and are actively being shopped (though rumours do point towards your assessment), and the last is rumoured to not be under consideration to be expansion protected.

Trade bait implies these guys are going to be dangled on the trading block to try to acquire the desired return. It's literally like fishing bait you put on a hook. It's what you use to catch a fish.

Here's last year's list for comparison's sake.
http://www.tsn.ca/byfuglien-tops-tsn-trade-bait-list-1.432216

Of their Top 10 (First list was only 10), only 4 were dealt. Though to be fair to TSN, two of the players who were not dealt had requested trades.
4/10
01. Dustin Byfuglien (Re-signed with Winnipeg)
02. Jonathan Drouin (Was not dealt and rescinded his trade request)
03. Loui Eriksson (Boston kept him for their stretch run, and lost him to free agency
04. Andrew Ladd (Traded to Chicago)
05. Travis Hamonic (Ultimately, rescinded his trade request)
06. Eric Staal (Traded to NY Rangers)
07. Roman Polak (Traded to San Jose)
08. Radim Vrbata (Not traded)
09. Dan Hamhuis (Vancouver tried to trade him but never completed a deal before the deadline)
10. Jiri Hudler (Traded to Florida)

TSN's 2015 Trade Bait List: TSN had a pretty good percentage with this one, as 7 of the 10 players on the list were traded, with an 8th traded in the offseason.

7/10
01. Antoine Vermette (Traded to Chicago)
02. Cody Franson (Traded to Nashville)
03. Andrej Sekera (Traded to LA)
04. Daniel Winnik (Traded to Pittsburgh)
05. Mike Santorelli (Traded to Nashville)
06. Chris Stewart (Traded to Minnesota)
07. Zbynek Michalek (Traded to St. Louis)
08. Chris Neil (Not traded)
09. Cam Atkinson (Not traded)
10. Ryan O'Reilly (Not traded until offseason)

That list looks silly now considering Atkinson is now significantly better than all the players 1-8

Gionta should be Here. He's outplaying almost everyone on that list, is a veteran leader with cup winning experience. Shoe in to be traded to a playoff team. Probably will get a 2nd for the rental.

What's the deal with Anthony Duclair being on the list? I know he is going to become a UFA, but has there been any talks that he is not interested in signing with the Coyotes?
