I think that Couturier deserves consideration. He came up young and drew the difficult job of being the defensive C. He did it too well so Lavy was content to leave him there and ignored his offensive potential for years. It’s been interesting that ever since his role has changed that his line mates see their production increase when they are played with him. Then the injuries hit.
I get that non Flyer fans don’t appreciate his play; they don’t see him that frequently. That Flyers fans are slow to bang his drum disappoints me. He’s a huge impact player. Last year when he was out, the club was unwatchable. This year with him back, they’re competitive. That speaks volumes.
