You’ve got criticisms from a lot of different fan bases. Probably means you did a pretty good job.
Always glad to read others views on prospects even when some of the choices would be a little different than mine.
Good job!

It's official: Olli Juolevi is the most underrated prospect outside the NHL. After the season he had, he's definitely a top 30 prospect. He was (eventually) the #1 defenseman on a men's league team and put up very strong numbers for a 19 year old, not too far off from what Heiskanen was doing. Why the hate?

Definitely wouldn’t call it hate. Juolevi, to me is a very solid prospect. Upon further review, I may have lowballed him a bit. I think maybe it’s because he isn’t as flashy that he tends to get undervalued and admittedly, I didn’t keep up with Liiga a ton last season. I think his D+1 season in the OHL left me wanting more but he rebounded nicely with TPS this season.

It wasn't that I am not high on Heiskanen. I don't think the gap from 1-9 is very large at all. Dahlin and Svechnikov are future franchise players in my opinion, which is why I have them #1 and #2. These rankings are based more upon the player's overall potential than it was based upon NHL readiness. Heiskanen is an elite, blue-chip prospect and will for sure be an elite #1 defenseman in this league.
And this is where I disagree massively because I think Peterson and Heiskanen have separated themself from the rest. I 100% agree on Dahlin, I can get on board with Svech but after that to me its Peterson and Heiskanen in the 3-4 spot and no other prospect right now has a claim to be over them given how they each killed their respective league this past year

I believe that’s fair. Our top 3 would be the same on that token. But for me, it’s hard to ignore or discredit Tolvanen’s scoring in the second best league in the world at his age and I have always been higher than most on Mittelstadt. The latter of the two also stepped into the NHL and put up very good numbers, albeit a small sample size, but proved he is capable of handling NHL minutes.

You could make the argument that Heiskanen is better than both of those guys for sure. I like Necas’s potential as a Center as well. I wouldn’t have a problem switching any of those 4 honestly but I understand why some people are upset at Heiskanen not being higher. Again, it isn’t an indictment on Miro but rather me valuing the other guys in a similar regard or higher for various reasons, mainly because they are likely to be game breaking forwards.

Wanted to make a thread for people (the non-experts like myself) to post their rankings rather than have numerous threads of people's rankings.

So, without further ado, here are my top 100 prospects and top 25 goalie prospects. I took multiple scouting reports into account, as well as my overall knowledge of these prospects from both seeing them play and the general consensus of each player.

Just for fun and out of some boredom in the dog days of the NHL offseason. Cutoff is 40 NHL games played.

I'm sure I may be missing a few. Would love to see other people's rankings as well.

Looks like a list based on their draft position, no thought into learning curve and potential. For me it's important to look at a players value to their drafted team, and their potential for a long career in the NHL. To rank prospects properly it's important to know some history on the player, and to see their progression and know their intangibles. It's too easy and false to simply look at draft status and stats.

This ranking has almost nothing to do with draft position whatsoever. There are multiple late round picks in here. Just because you didn't see the guys you like where you would like to see them does not mean that it had anything to do with their draft position.

Wow, Adam Huska on 25 between Goalies? Surprised.

Btw, why are you so high from Carter Hart? Even the 2 russian wonderkinds with some KHL experience are behind.

I personally believe Hart has a higher ceiling. In all honesty, ranking the top 4 goalies was tough and I don't think much separates them at all.

Huska is good. Really underrated. He's played for a bad NCAA team the last two years, but has done a quality job. His stats are effected by some injuries, as well.

Good list.

As for immediate NHL impact in 2018-2019, I really like those players in particular:

Ethan Bear (EDM): should get a good look in Edmonton given the lack of offense in that backend, excellent sleeper pick for fantasy leagues IMO.

Noah Juulsen (MTL): a future stud, smart, reliable, minute-eater physical top 4 RD with an underrated shot from the point. Funny that he plays on the same team than Shea Weber, because he is the kind of player his absolute (altough unlikely) upside should be around. However, if he end up becoming Craig Rivest-like, I'm sure the habs are going to be very pleased with this player. Should see plenty of ice-time as well with Weber injury. Coming out of a knee injury, he was really impressive as 20y old in the NHL this season. I think he is quite underrated on these boards, probably because of his offense numbers in the AHL.

Anthony Cirelli (TBL): the depth in the Lightning line-up means he should have decent linemates 5v5, and has all the tool to become a dominant #3C in the NHL as soon as this season.

Needs more Rasmus Andersson. He’s a better prospect than Kylington, and in the discussion with Valimaki.

Another one I realized is that you have Adam Fox rated higher than Jusso Valimaki. Dermott should be higher than Smith, Dobson, Timmins, Bouchard, etc.

Well before getting traded to Carolina, Fox was rated higher by many.
So I dont think it's that odd.

I don't know if it's because he's already played a few games, but I think Adin Hill deserves to be on this list. His numbers aren't too far off of Demko's if you consider he's 6 months younger. Overall it kind of just seems you undervalue AHL numbers, cause Connor Ingram should definitely be higher.

What do you see in Lias Andersson to have him so high?

Personally, I don't see the offensive ability and I think centers like Borgstrom and Kotkaniemi have much higher ceilings.

I think it’s how well he played in two different men’s leagues last year and also how he was able to play in the NHL at the end of the season. He played in over 115 games from the time of his draft up until Worlds and never really looked out of place at any level. He may not have the upside of some of the other guys on this list but he is going to be a very good 2 way Center in this league. I think his offensive abilities are overlooked. Very good numbers in the SHL and AHL, tore up world juniors and has incredible leadership qualities a lot of these guys don’t have.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to project a 60 point two way Center out of him based on his D+1 season. Even if he doesn’t hit that mark he is a safe bet to be a middle six Center and likely a future captain. There’s a lot to like about Andersson’s game.

60 points? I'd say thats very unreasonable. 60 points is usually the Rangers leading scorer. I'd project him more as a 45 point guy per season at his prime. Maybe he hits 55 in his best season. Obviously not the same exact profile, but I think his overall contribution will be about what we get right now from Hayes.

Feel scherbak should make it. He had 3rd highest pt/gm in AHL at 21/22 years old.

Jeremy Swayman has to be on the list and should have played more games for USA in last years World Junior. He has a good season in college. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound, Swayman developed into one of the premier goaltenders in the nation, producing a .921 save percentage and 2.72 goals-against average for the Black Bears.

If 40 games is the cutoff then – Anders Bjork played 30 NHL games as a rookie straight out of Notre Dame last season. But he had his season shortened by a shoulder injury that required surgery Feb. 20. He should be in there somewhere after playing on the top line for a chunk of those games.

125 players listed. On average, each team should have 4 players. Canucks have 8.
They sure stocked up!
