Bobby Clarke/Rick MacLeish deserve a mention when you consider postseason success. Each has over 100 Playoff points, 2 Cups and 4 appearances as a 1-2 combo.

Trottier and Brent Sutter in NYI in the 80s. But they almost seemed to alternate elite years, never really the same year.

The Islanders had one elite center, and four really good (not elite) #2 centers.

No chance. Not any combination of 2 of those guys even come close to an all time list. They wouldn't have even been a top 3 center duo in the league in 2012.

Thanks for thinking of Trottier/Sutter. If you evaluate based on all 200' of the ice and include all aspects of play (including PK, hitting, faceoffs, shot-blocks), then they could be top 5.

yeah, butch Goring wasn't too shabby either.

I don't think top 5, but they were good for sure.
