again, ADA has played well every time hes played.

at this point, its got to be attitude or effort in practice.

having said that, its gotta suck being a scratch every game. hes prob a little bummed. hes a pro though, so it beats hartford- where he cant go, and the team knows if hes waived hes grabbed instantly.

need an injury and hell get some games.

Claesson is out a couple weeks.. But we carried 8 men out of camp so ADA is still scratched

hes literally a plain vanilla 4/5 type guy.

he's very john moore-ish.
lmao what
not even close

Pionk tries stuff that legit #1D or specialists do (high risk rushes, hip checks all over the place, steps up way more than he should given his size) and that's why his eye test is a lot better. he's the opposite of a 4-5 vanilla guy, he's a 6-7 guy who tries #1-2 stuff and occasionally can pull it off.

Scanned post, not enough conspiracy theories/coaching incompetence/GM incompetence/organizational incompetence. Much too reasonable. Please try again.

This is crystal clear:

"Quinn on Sunday said that he had talked with Tony DeAngelo, set to be a healthy scratch for the seventh time, about what the defenseman needs to do to get in the lineup.

Monday, the coach was asked whether he was talking specifically about things the defenseman needs to show in practice in order to crack the lineup.

“Yes, absolutely,” the coach said."

I just dont get it with some of these young guys. Whether it's their attitude, of loafing in practice, it just - on the surface - seems like such an easy thing to fix. Don't act like an asshole and bust your ass every minute in practice. After going through 3 organizations and now 2 coaches with the Rangers, how has this not registered with DeAngelo? He better figure it out soon or he's going to throw his career away on something that didn't come down to being an NHL talent.

Would not surprise me if he got an attitude after not being in the season opener after the type of preseason he had. He's gotta be thinking wtf else do I gotta do to get in there. And tbh I would be pissed too, not to mention the 2 games he got he played great in one and well in the other, with some mistakes thrown in there, but thats expected.

Not playing ADA more is the only glaring disagreement I have with Quinn so far.

That said, we're only 8 games into the season, and it sounds like it is far from an arbitrary decision. Maturity has always been the concern with ADA; if Quinn can get him to buy into what he is preaching, it could be a big step for the kid.

I mean that's cool, I would understand getting pissed off as well, but you gotta channel that anger into something positive. Like go balls to the wall at practice, use the emotion to make yourself even better. Doesn't sound like that's what he is doing or has done. And he's a guy who has had maturity concerns throughout his career, so that's not totally surprising. But if he's going to make it, he needs to not sulk or whatever he's doing. Make it a positive, a motivating factor. Be the guy with the chip on your shoulder.

Pionk is weird...the eye test is a lot better than the advanced stats....but even the eye test isn't that great. He makes a ton of God awful plays that basically nobody cares because he's not DeAngelo.

So weird.

And what rookie defenseman doesn't make bad plays?

here's a crazy idea what if ADA does what the coach has asked him to do and earns his way back into the lineup instead of just being handed a spot based on his age

What exactly is he asking him to do? Sounds like a BS excuse to justify the healthy scratches.

reminds me of Tortorella's "we know what we did"

Literally not a single source has said that... that’s all rumors by people on here. Quinn used coach speak to avoid a question

DeAngelo has been traded twice already. There is clearly something he isn't doing to receive ice time. However, he is one of a few golden children on this board. He can do no wrong in the eyes of some posters here.

I dunno...he seemed pretty crystal clear on it to me.
He knows what he has to do, that’s crystal clear as Quinn saying he doesn’t work hard? That’s a reach especially when Quinn has already benched guys this year and said it’s because they weren’t working hard...

All we know is ADA isn’t skating and apparently Quinn told him why. Anything else is a stretch you’re making to fit your narrative

What do you think Quinn was talking about?

Quinn has benched guys for not working hard enough. ADA is currently benched. Yet it's somehow a reach to say that the reason ADA is benched is because he isn't working hard enough.

That's just simple logic. Any other conclusion would be more of a reach.
