Price for Toews is coming from Chicago. Time to understand how negative value in contracts work

3-time cup winner, definitely overpaid at $10million but he is their #1C regardless. Who do the Habs have to offer to help centre the Hawks' top line? Drouin ?

Not a good fit, even though its enticing to get a #1C and a goalie from the Hawks (who is from Montreal btw) in the package. This definitely helps out the Habs in their rebuild but not the Hawks.

You can definitely load up the offer with picks, prospects, etc but that doesn't get Bowman to flip the switch on the trade because he still is out one #1C.

He's 1C on Chicago. On Pittsburgh he wouldn't probably be 4C... or would, but not higher.

That was my point. He was the one saying otherwise.

Awful D? Overpaid Goalie? They had a very rough starts and then Weber went down. Petry started to play much better, Mete was just fine where he was. Benn, Schelmko and Alzner got from mediocre to meh. Juulsen, Reilly are playing well. All we need is a healthy Weber and someone decent to play with, which can be acquired via trade.

Call Price overpaid if you want, but he’s still one, if not the best in the league.

I won’t ever bother comment on your « declining » Toews. Clearly you haven’t seen him play. He’s still got it and with two solid wingers, could easily pull a Bergeron.

They literally traded a better player in Panarin for Toews favourite and best linemate Saad, and he's still a 50pt player.

Like many others, wouldn't take the guy for free. He's overpaid by around $4M

On most every team in the league Toews would now be the #2C ... Pittsburgh is an unusual example given it's 2 #1 C's in Crosby and Malkin and too boot they just traded a 1st, 3rd and goalie ( plus plus involving LV ) for Brassard to play 3C
At any rate it's all good .... Hawks won their three cups ... it's now time to wait for a new regime!
