Why is a regulation time win more valuable than an OT win? Most ideas have this same thing, but why should a team get rewarded with an extra point to win in 60 minutes rather than 65? OT exists to try to determine a winner....so why is an OT win deemed to be less valuable?

To me, the answer here lies in the format of the play.

If the OT were 5x5, then it should be the same. That's what happens in NBA. OT? Same rules apply as in regular play.

NHL, however, has changed the rules to allow more space and greater scoring opportunities in OT. That's the reason for the 3-2-1-0 system. The OT and the SO are played under different rules. Rules that will not be used in Overtime in the playoffs.

I agree. We should have ties in the playoffs too. Maybe two teams can share the Stanley Cup. It will be great. All about the competition.
Unneeded over-exaggeration. A knockout tournament by definition needs a winner barring any outside circumstances (such as the 1918 flu pandemic that cancelled the 1919 Stanley Cup Final).

Nhl $4 billion in revenue in 2015.

MLS, $400 million in revenue in 2015.

Yup, they catching up fast lol
You completely missed his point; he's talking in terms of popularity, not revenue. Hockey is still very much a niche sport in North America and isn't all that inclusive while soccer is the definition of inclusive. Soccer's standing in the United States has been primarily affected by the view that it's a game that's played by kids but is grown out of as they get older.
