These people think 2 or 3 games will ruin his career. We put Zibanejad in Djuirgarden (a team that sucked the SEL's hind tit) for a season and he is not ruined. Yet 3 games for Ceci in the NHL is going to destroy him. :shakehead

It could, perhaps..probably not ruin his career but might get the kid confused a bit.

In Bingo, when he has the puck and rushes out of his zone he carries it into the opposing zone about 85% of the time. Can he do that in the NHL right now and get back in time on defense when he gets pinched?

And when he's getting dirty in the defensive zone corners will he handle the heavy hit or back off like he has in the AHL?

Either way, it was more to see what he could do for our PP. I think he definitely needs seasoning in the AHL. This is not about confusion, rather a reward for playing well. He is a + player in the AHL, which means he does a good job at both ends. He certainly needs to learn more physicality. But then look at Karlsson -- starting to really lay some hits this season after not doing it so regularly before.

You're right..the word 'confused' wasn't the choice word as he is a smart player and can adapt..just don't know if you make that transition so quickly in the N right now..

If he keeps up as he has done so far tonight I'll gladly eat a whole buffet's worth of crow.

Definitely deserves a few more games after his performance so far.

Sens need him, too.

Ceci isn't Karlsson. Karlsson has been, and always is, supremely confident in himself. Getting regularly stomped doesn't hurt Karlsson's mojo, because he still knows how good he is and how capable he is. Ceci may very well deserve a chance based on his play.

But you don't send the best young astronaut into space on a ship that got a faulty engine. You wait for a working condition vessel before putting him up there. If you put Ceci on the NHL line-up at any point, you do it once we know, mathematically, that we have zero chance of making the play offs. That way, there is zero pressure for him, and he can just play his game, rather than trying too hard to impress.

Karlsson is arguably like this because they played him right away. He was drafted exactly in the same spot as Karlsson. Rundblad, who was also drafted around the same spot, was pampered and given the 'slow' treatment...even though he was about as highly touted as Cody or Erik. Look at him now.... Maybe he should have been rushed?

Different methods work for different players.

Ceci had a very good first game...but it could've been a very different story if game #1 was against a Chicago or San Jose.

Just one game, played very well. Deserves another game. Once the adrenaline of his debut wears off we'll see what we have. Remember Boro's first game up? Lot of energy but it tapered off as the games went on.

Good debut.
