What did you expect in a thread mentioning Time Travel in the subject line?

obvious answer is to acquire (bernier, schneider) or draft a talented young goaltender to take over for fleury. should have been done many years ago. worst case scenario, you have a young potential starter and trade him away for assets like van and la did.
instead you have the current situation-- goalie delivers multiple historically awful playoffs and then one decent one, then boom, immediately sign him for the rest of crosby/malkin primes.
when espn does a 30 for 30 segment on how the pens went on to become one of the biggest underachieving teams in nhl history, the organization's refusal to move on from fleury will be at the top of list for reasons why, along with keeping bylsma around as long as they did.
1 goal in 2 game7´s combined. 2 goals in the whole Boston series. Playing like garbage against the Metro this year, being outplayed in every facet of the game.. Yeah, but Fleury is our main problemEither of those goalies would have been a HUGE help in Game 7 of the Tampa series... or the entire 2012 Boston series... or the 2014 Rangers series...

Ragamuffin Gunner was spot on, might as well close the thread because he answered it all.

Were you watching that game, though? It was painful, but I remember it so well. Like it was yesterday, really. Pens were dominating in possession but there was no creativity at all. Perimeter shots against Lundqvist, the Rags were packed in their zone and weren´t giving up serious chances. Those NYR shots on the other hand, man, were there some grade A chances, breakaways, 2-on-1s etc. At least 7-8 odd man rushes in that game against us. Anyway, I´m not saying that Fleury is good or something, I don´t really care about him. Not when the rest of the team plays like crap, when we can´t score, when our PP dies when we need it most and when our D collapses that much. Fleury is not ideal but there are at least 4-5 more prominent problems than him now.Recap:
MAF in NYR game 7
-Gives up first goal in 5min of play
-Pens tie it up
-Gives up 2nd goal 3.5min later
-Pens out-shoot NYR 36:20 but lose.
-MAF has 2 goals against on 20 shots. Lundqvist gives up 1 on 35 shots.
Our goalie walks away with no blame. . It's our team's fault despite outshooting other team by 15 shots?
I'm sorry, but if you only give up 20 shots, you should be winning that game 9 times out of 10.
