The beauty of this situation is that we know we're not passing anyone else, in either direction, without a stunning reversal.

I like reading through the other team's GDT, and every game we play it seems the other team's fans have the same general sentiment..."We're being outplayed by the Hurricanes, they're ******* *** * **" I feel like we've had a lot more games where we outplayed our opponent than the other way around. If the goalscoring was there, who knows?
On another note, reading through the Devils GDT,://hfboards.mandatory.com/search.php?searchid=31969283 This dude is bashing all things Hurricanes throughout the game. Haven't ever really been mad reading through another team's GDT, but this dude took shots at the team, the players, and the fans for the full 2 and 1/2 hours. Just grinded my gears a bit.

Eh, just reading over it, he seems like one of those brain-dead bro types whose peak in life was middle school. Maybe high school if he was lucky. Don't sweat it. He'll wind up in jail on anger management issues sooner rather than later.

I think I figured out why our GDTs have been so small lately. We don't have a scapegoat anymore. I thought about it today and there's no player on the team that simply ticks me off that they're getting ice time.

For me, it has nothing to do with a scapegoat. It's more that fans become less emotionally involved when the same thing keeps happening year after year after year. Hard to get excited about it. Pretty much everybody knew in the back of their mind how the season would unfold at the macro level. Play poorly and pretty much be out of the playoff picture early but put together a strong enough string of games after that to pick in the #5-8 range. Rinse and repeat.
As far as a scapegoat, if I had to name one, it's still Semin by a fair margin if you ask me. Not that anyone, except maybe Faulk and the goalies deserves a lot of praise this year (maybe a case for praise for guys like Rask, Nestrasil, M. Jordan vs. expectations), but when Alex Semin has less goals than guys like Riley Nash, Jay McClement, Chris Terry, Brad Malone, etc..), it's a major disappointment no matter how you slice it.
Skinner would be next on my list. Not enough production, too inconsistent game in and game out, and not showing enough development in other areas vs. what he gets paid.

I stopped watching the games around January. This is the first year this has happened, even in the past when we were terribad I watched as many games as my schedule could allow. I guess five years is my boiling point of watching meaningless hockey.
