EDIT - I take back my whole rant on "fat" Tara.

Did not realize that she become pregnant in real life.

I was under the impression that the leader intended to let her go.
But her two escorts had other plans.

The leader had a pretty lame reason for not letting Cyndie escort Tara back to the river, so I think it's likely she was in on it

I'll admit I'm too invested to stop watching now (i've put too many damn years into this thing to stop watching now) but season 7 hasn't been that bad.

I guess... we're not talking about the Bay of Fundy here, as far as high water marks go. so relatively speaking, maybe. in more absolute terms, UGH

Season 7 isn't bad but it isn't great, imo. It just seems like one big transitional season until season 8.

Maybe the upcoming episode turns the tide and we finish 7A strong and 7B continues the momentum, but I'm not holding my breath at this point.

I keep going back to the episode format. If the stories were inter-spliced within one episode (think GOT) it would be much more palatable. But the lets do an hour on someone you sorta forgot about is such a bad idea. And yes, the writing could be a lot better, but just that one change I think would play so much better.

I completely agree. Things would feel like they're moving along so much smoother if they didn't do their current setup. Solo-story episodes work every now and then, but not as the primary storytelling structure.

Also, they lose whatever momentum they had from the previous episode. Like it was a cool moment when Karl finds Jesus on the truck. It's like, oh man, I wonder where they go from there. But now they have 1, maybe more (I never watch the previews of the next week) episodes between that and it loses some excitement.

Parallel stories work if each story is compelling (like the Constant on Lost or Battle of the ******** on GOT). But when nothing happens.. . man that's boring.

If they are all bad, then yes, you don't have much. But I'd say there are some stories that are interesting this year on TWD.

Going back to GOT, could you imagine if the Sand Snakes had gotten 1 off episodes instead of a few minutes hear and there. It'd be awful. In small doses the story line was annoying, but palatable.

Yes, that is on point.

Daryl episode was alright for example. Tara's journey was basically an hour-long Sand Snakes story with equivalent acting and writing.

The two does not really have anything to do with each other. Having to eat for two is a myth, hence the ones who do gain a lot of weight. An extra sandwich per day is really enough. She still looks fine so I am not complaining, like if that or the opposite means anything.

Still thinks she will return to the women camp to try and get them to fight against the Saviors, or at least give up some of their guns for the fight. Perhaps looking for romance to now when her loved one is dead?

Funny, that's the comparison I made in my mind after watching that episode. Guess it helps that they're all women.

As a fun fact, one of the Sand Snakes was on TWD once (Slabtown, aka the Beth episode at the hospital).

The formatting of this season is absolutely dreadful. It feels like we've seen Rick & Negan like 2-3 times.

Hopefully the second half does a better job thing every thing together.

Definitely not watching this tonight, maybe tomorrow. A better show on that occupies that time slot.
