The Fours, near the Garden, is a great sports bar and the food is good. It's the consummate Boston sports bar, with lots of memorabilia, and sandwiches named after Boston's sports figures. Get the Bobby Orr.

Thank you been up to Boston before but usually stay at the Hilton so this will be a different area and hopefully it be nice to walk around the commons
The Fours is usually filled at least an hour before game time. Number of good bars in Quincy Market on the way to the Garden from Tremont St. And they won't be as crowded.

Oh, and it's Common as in Boston Common, capital C, singular. Enjoy your stay.

One of my pet peeves. That, and Boston Gardens vs Public Garden. The Garden has hockey, the Gardens is where the duck statues and the swan boats reside.

A nice bargain for fans visiting our city: CityPass Boston is offering a discount rate of $55.00 for a nine day pass including admission to Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Science, Boston Aquarium and Skywalk. Can also use it for a Harbor Cruise.

Good deal for those coming to Boston for a game at The Garden or Fenway and would like to see the sights. Pass must be purchased before Feb. 28.

heading to Boston in July for the Petty concert, typically we stay with a friend who was working there but he`s been transferred, looking for a nice spot, downtown or close enough that we aren`t using the T line for an hour to stay at. Safe neighborhood. Were not looking for a dive though, don`t mind paying for good quality, thanks muchly

PM me please so I don`t have to go through pages of threads. I saw the list provided on page one but I`d love to get first hand experiences if I could

Thanks again

I'll be going to the Devils game in March.

Visiting my cousin who lives in Raynham. Map says it's about 45 minutes away, cuz says it's 25. What are you guy's thoughts on the logistics of staying with him on game night vs just getting a hotel close to the rink?

Trust me - the only way you do Raynham to TD Garden in 25 minutes is with a State Police escort. Realistically it is 40 60 minutes.

Hotels near TD Garden are not cheap so a lot depends if you want to party after the game. Another option is driving from Raynham to the Quincy/Adams subway station.

But there is no way you can drive it in 25 minutes.

Hello folks, I know I know you don't like my avatar!!!

I'm a huge Pats fan, been one since the mid-90's, still rock my Ben Coates jersey:yo:

I've been to watch the Pats in NY and Buffalo, but never been to Gillette to watch a game, been there for a visit but not to catch a game.

I'm wondering if there are any hotels near Gillette, which ones would you recommend between Gillette and also Wrentham Village since we will most probably be shopping on the Saturday. A nice cheap hotel with maybe a pool for the kids

Also any zones to avoid when purchasing my tickets since we will bring our 2 kids ages 7-5?

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated

Hi all,

Will be coming to Boston for a Celtics, Red Sox and a couple Bruins game in April. Any recommended cheap eats in the 4 days that I'm there? Of course going to have some clam chowder and lobster rolls, but anything Boston-specific to try?

The capital and largest city of Massachusetts, in the eastern part of the state on Boston Bay, an arm of Massachusetts Bay. Founded in the 17th century, it was a leading center of agitation against England in the 18th century and a stronghold of abolitionist thought in the 19th century. Today it is a major commercial, financial, and educational hub. Population: 591,000

Parking Near the Garden: (Bruins/Celtics)

**There is parking underneath the Garden. It is convienient before the game, to park and just head up to the ice/court, however the spaces are very narrow, the crew makes you back into a spot, and leaving after is nearly always a hassel. Not my personal favorite place, but the garage under the Garden is available.**

Government Center Parking Garage

$25.00 during events, hourly rates apply during non-event hours.

"Our central location is just steps from the TD Garden, Boston’s Historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace and Quincy Market, the North End, Suffolk University, the Bulfinch Triangle and City Hall Plaza."

Other Fun Things to Touch Upon

Going to the Garden:

-Doors open an hour before game time, i.e., 6:00 for a 7:00 game, 12:00 for a 1:00 game, etc.
-Warm ups are open to anyone, and you can get as close to the ice as you want until game time in which you will forced to go to your assigned seat.
-The TD Garden does not serve alcohol to anyone under 25 with an out of state ID.
-The proshop is located on the same level as the train station in the Garden, before going up the stairs/escalators to enter tha game. It is open before and after the game on all game days, and business hours on non-game days.
-Bruins practices in Wilmington are typically opened to the Public, unless otherwise noted.

Understanding the language:

barrel - a trash can, garbage can
blinkahs - automobile directional signals[34]
Bubblah – drinking fountain.
Bulls**t - has a second meaning of "very angry"
clam diggers - short pants worn in the summer time
"clickah/channel changer" - a television remote control
frappe (pronounced /fræp/) – 'a blend of ice cream, milk, and syrup (In Boston milkshake refers to a concoction without ice cream, but merely with milk blended with flavored syrup by shaking.
grindah - a baked submarine sandwich... NOT the equivalent of a toasted sub
hub - Boston
jimmies – 'chocolate ice cream sprinkles'/ rainbow jimmies - colored ice cream sprinkles
packie – liquor store (from "package store")[42]
pissah - means something akin to "great" either realistically or sarcastically.
rotary – 'traffic circle
Staties - Massachusetts State Troopers
wicked - 'very', in the extreme; as in 'wicked pissa' meaning 'very good'.

Moving to Boston? A few things to Consider:

-You should not recognize the letter “R†as a part of the English language.
- You know what a “regular†coffee is.
-You should keep an ice scraper in your car year-round.
- You should learn to tell the difference between a Revere accent and a Dorchester accent.
- You should know how to pronounce the names of towns like Worcester, Billerica, Gloucester, and Haverhill.
-You should know how to pronounce Yastrzemski. 20. You order iced coffee in January
- You should know what they sell at a Packie.
-You should kbnow what First Night is.
-The words ‘WICKED’ and ‘GOOD’ go together.
-You should own a “Yankees Suck†shirt or Hat.
-You should know what a frappe is.
-You should be able to complete the Following: “Lynn, Lynn…â€
-You should know how to merge from 6 lanes of traffic to 1.
-You should know that Johnny Damon and Roger Clemens are more evil than Whitey Buldger.
-You are expected to know who Whitey Buldger is.

Enjoy your travels!

**Please feel free to PM me with any further questions.

Nice try, better than most. But it's Bill-ricka, not Billericee, and drop the 'r' on Woostah and Glostah. ;)

If you have a car try BSSC. They have fixed night leagues (MWF, TTh, Sunday). You can join a Greater Boston league, but that still requires driving sometimes (though you'll have games you can walk to).

Is there an area close to the Garden that people usually flock to after the game? Looking to go for a couple drinks and maybe some late-night grub, and would like to book my hotel close to THAT area, rather than the arena (unless they are in the same area?)

Depends on what you want to do. Bars/pubs, food/dessert, dance/nightclubs, live music? The area around the Garden has several sports bars and pubs, from divey to upscale, and the best Italian food in the city is a short walk away in the North End. Anything from very fine dining to late night/pub food, and the best desserts in the city (wars are fought over Mike's Pastry vs. Modern Pastry).

But the nightlife is not that strong, more bars and restaurants than actual dance clubs. For that you can head to Fenway, Quincy Market, or the Back Bay and Seaport region. The Seaport is probably the best for that, it's new and trendy. Not very far from TD Garden, but probably a cab/Uber is needed.

Note that last call varies from ~12:00 to a legal maximum of 1:30 AM. This varies according to the liquor license owned by the establishment (or however early they feel like kicking you out). Yes, we are still very Puritan in some ways.

Thanks, that helps. Definitely not looking for a club, but something like a more upscale pub would be great. Sounds like we can stick close to the arena for everything we need then?
