On the topic of Greek names, one of the name's a friend of mine was going to be given was Spiro, for the Greek/Albanian side of his family, which was his mom's.
His dad said that was a stupid name and that no one who isn't from the old country would be called Spiro and they decided against it. So they gave him one of the most common boy names of his birth year.
When he got older and found out he was almost gonna be named Spiro, he wasn't too happy that they passed on it. He goes by a certain nickname (not because he hates his name or anything, that's just a nickname he got at a young age) and most of the people who know him kind of forget what his actual first name is. It's to the point where some people who don't know him super well have been like ''What is his actual name? That's not his real name! That's a not a name! No way that's on his birth certificate!''.
