I don't expect him in the majors this year. He doesn't even have 50 innings in Double-A. Speaking of innings, that's what he needs more than anything.

That's a little foolish. I wouldn't be surprised if he threw the bulk of his innings in the majors this year.

Yeah i wouldn't be surprised if he's up with the big club late May/early June.

He'll be in the Majors this year, but he shouldn't be unless he just obliterates AAA (a legitimate possibility).

Obligatory note about me being ridiculously conservative about prospect development.

He doesn't need to touch AAA. If he lights up AA he's major league ready. A jump from AA to ML isn't that much bigger than from AAA. JMO

Gosh, in last few years Padres trade a lot of good and above average prospects: Joe Ross, Trea Turner, Matt Andriese, Matt Wisler, Max Fried, Jace Peterson, Mallex Smith, Zach Eflin, Johnny Barbato, Burch Smith, Jesse Hahn, RJ Alvarez.

They doesn't exactly develop guys like Liriano, James Darnell, Yeison Asencio, Jaff Decker and Keyvius Sampson. You could make a point they give too quickly Grandal and Forsythe. Gyorko wasn't the same after the contract.

What do people think is Blake Snell's ETA? Seems like he may need an injury to step in, but it has to be some point in 2016? Obviously Erasmo Ramirez is not going to block him, but with Cobb returning mid-season and the Rays likely wanting to be cautious about Super Two, do you think they'd call him up mid-season and start him in the bullpen? I am not seeing where the starts will come in without an injury.

Uh, Erasmo Ramirez is good. He gives them the ability to let Snell develop.

Hell, I'd rather yank Moore from the rotation.

Maybe I'm mediating too much through fantasy baseball experience -- essentially meaningless when it comes to actual baseball -- but my sense is that Ramirez is an above-average bottom of the rotation starter and not much more.

In any case, not trying to quibble about the Rays staff. More just curious about how far away Snell is in the abstract and then secondly how far away he is depending on opportunity. It seems like a given that he'll be in AAA until the Super Two deadline safely passes, but maybe I'm being too optimistic and he will basically spend the whole season in AAA.

Ramirez has always had the talent and the stuff. He finally tied stuff together in Tampa.

That said, they can be patient with Snell, like every arm they groomed before.

Great work Murray as these are incredibly hard. Always wanted to do something like this but then I get indecisive and end up quitting.

You love your Mazara.

Do you think Barreto is going to move to third? I haven't seen him listed as a third baseman anywhere.

Nice list, by the way. Here are my two cents... granted, I don't know that that much about prospects.

Too high: Gray, Alfaro, Gallo
Too low: Benintendi, Shipley, Rodgers

Not surprised to see Rodgers that low. Murray isn't as bullish on him as some. Personally, Rodgers is a lock in top-15 but each to their own.

Fantasy owners will be crossing their fingers that if Barreto does move it's to 2B and not 3B.

Moved Brinson up because I didn't realize I had him so far from Williams. Love Brinson.

Gray doesn't need to have a ton of command to be a mid rotation starter. Very high floor with a good ceiling. Coors is a push back on him though.

Alfaro has an easy path to being a very good catcher. The defense is improving and if he puts up .260 with 18 HRs, he's probably a 3+ win catcher.

Gallo could easily end up the best player on this list. Without quesiton.

I think I'm actually pretty high on Benintendi?

Shipley doesn't have the ceiling to me. I view him as a back end, innings eater.

I don't dislike Rodgers. Just hedging on risk.

See, that just shows how little I know. I thought Gray's FB% was higher and that Alfaro's defense was bad that they were considering a move to first for him.

As for Benintendi, Law has him 18th, MLB has him 25th and BA has him 15th.

Oh yeah... about Barreto, you think he's moving to third? Or was that a typo?

He's unequivocally a 3B. Like I don't think he ever has a chance to play SS regularly in the bigs. Also why I have Bell at 1B, but that's more of a Pirates OF embarrassment of riches thing.

Phillies worked with Alfaro on his D a lot. He'll get his shot at C.

Huh. Well I tried to be a bit conservative on 2015 draftees as well.
