Cup winners and their dynamic

Kings: kopitar, carter, doughty, quick
Blackhawks: toews, Kane, Keith, Crawford
Wings: zett, datsyuk, lidstrom, osgood
Pens: Crosby, Malkin, letang, fleury/Murray
Bruins: Bergeron, Chara rask
Caps: ovechkin, backstrom, carlsson holtby

Top forwards, top dman and a good to great goalie.

Habs lack the star forward in above equation. There is important guys I missed on all the above but the guys I listed were the core stars.

Contenders this year:

Leafs: Matthews, marner, Tavares, Reilly, anderssen
Tampa: kuch, stamkos, hedman, vasilevski
Pens
Caps

West:
Sharks: couture, pavelski, burns, karlsson, jones
Nash: forsberg, johanssen, subban, Josi, rinne
Flames: gaudreau, giordano, rittich (unproven, may be their undoing)
Not convinced the Leafs are contenders....seem more like pretenders...they haven't won a playoff series since 2004 but yes, there is a ton of young talent there. Flames also seem like a pretender.
I think it will be Tampa in the East, and Winnipeg in the West.

Go Jets Go!!

Sheifele, Laine, wheeler, buff, hellbucyck (goaltending will be their weakness)

Part of the issue is that the Montreal fanbase and media equates offensive ability with a lack of character.

Look at how they treated Subban and Radulov.

Drouin this year is a good example. Hes gonna outproduce Radulov's season when he was a habs, hes only 23 years old and all the media and most fans crap on him.

Radulov missed a few games to injury and had to carry Danault, which contributed to him only scoring 54 points. He was much better than that.

They both have their strength and their style of play. Radulov is more of a work horse but Drouin will put more points on the board. If Drouin was playing with Benn and Seguin he would have more points than he is having right now for sure.

Radulov has a more fan friendly in your face approach to the game but to crap on Drouin for not playing that way is kind of dumb. He has more offensive upside than Radulov

Can anyone name the last Habs who got 100 points without looking it up?

Not sure, but from the top of my head, it's the same guy who is the last to score 50 goals, ou chu dans l'champs?
Turgeon or Damphousse is my guess.

No one cares
We lay this ALL on the goalies...............we build from the net in........... lol

I think we all knew we have had no one with offensive flair since Kovy, but wow. Maybe if we give MB 7 more summers, he can fix this.
Simple truth. Talent is overrated and Pricer/Halak/Huet/Theodore stop da puck!!!!!!!!! Don't let down da team!!!!!! Phil Danault/Radek Bonk and Trevor Linden can only do so much!

looking at this
- missing the PO twice, drafting 3rdOA, going to the ECF, etc...looks a lot like the Gainey era minus the arrogance.

So yeah! rince-repeat

I'm not sure if you're arguing with me or not.

We agree that our current GM is an idiot. And arrogant.

I'm just saying that a competent GM has the tools in this league to improve things rather quickly.

I want Bergevin to commit to trying so that if he fails, he can be replaced. Otherwise, if the ownership accepts a long reset, he will be there for years even if he does not improve at all.

We have a big issue with bringing in offensive minded young player and putting them in a position to fail. Playing young offensive players on the 4th line 10 mins a game and then saying they are a bust 30 games in kills a kids confidense. If you bring in a guy you drafted for his offensive skills then put him in a offensive roll . we have a habit of trying to change an offensive player into a 2 way defensive specialist and we can see how thats worked out .We waste 3 or 4 years and destroy their confidence and set them back years. Stop trying to turn high offense players into 2 way player and this will change . We need new blood in the organization who see this.

Do the above mentioned have a Stanley cup?

Moving the goalposts again? Now it's not longer "consistent playoffs", nor "consistent top-8", nor "go deep", nope! Now even if a team gets to the finals within a sequence of several years of making second round and later and continuing to be part of the top group of teams, it DOESN'T COUNT!

So apparently only if you luck out with Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin or Patrick Kane can your club be admired. The three Cup wins in the past 10 years by teams without a ppg forward don't count either!
