The Pop Smoke news makes me sick to my stomach. The kid didn't even get to enjoy his new-found stardom. All over a lapse in judgement (the Instagram post).

RIP

No particular order.

Older artists albums still in my rotation

Nas, 2pac, snoop, dre, ludacris, young jeezy, B.I.G. Three6Mafia, Slim Thug, gotilla zoe, beastie boys and a bit of jay-z

Artists that are more active that i listen to

Fabolous, yelawolf, royce 5'9, kendrick lamar, eminem, NF, MGK, kid ink, the game, dababy, Denzel curry, anything with anderson .paak, dax.

British artists and the scene in general are overlooked and crazily underated.

Kano, Aitch, wretch 32, avelino, dave and octavian.

Solid solid choices.

Love some of the oldies particularily Nas, Pac, b.i.g, and Jay-z for their lyracism.

Fab and royce have underrated flows.

NF and Eminem, have always been fantastic.

And absolutely agree with the british scene, definitely an overlooked and under discovered hip hop portion.

Fabolous might be my favorite of all time. A lot of guys from his era disappeared, fell off, moved on to other things, etc but he still puts out quality music.

I agree. His new project is pretty dope. B.o.m.b.s was a dope tribute to the bulls with a rhyme scheme related to his career/basketball. Cold summer was a great track as well.

Anything he features on he seems to just elevate for me as well.

The best is his Pandafreestyle where he just punchlines everyone NBA team. GOAT punchline rapper.

Also his verse to start off that mixtape with Jadakiss a few years ago is fire.

Jay Electronica is going to have the AOTY and it only takes one listen for it to be obvious.

It's that good.

Maybe I set your expectations too high... that can happen.

What issues did you have with it?
2010 Jay Electroinca was soooo dope. The fact he didn't release an album left you waiting. Then I literally though he moved on and was doing something different with his life seeing rapping is a younger mans game now. Come to find out today his album dropped and I genuinely was excited.

As for the album, only listened to it once so it hasn't had time to marinate, but not one song made me go oh shiiiiit. It's not a club album, it's not a car boomin system album. I don't like rap music void of drums. He's from an era where rap music was way more sophisticated and the fact Jay-Z is on it I was expecting an album with some serious lyrical complexity.

To me This is Jay Electronica.

Not one of his new songs made my head bump like this.
