Alright guys! Yes, it's almost that time of year again. We usually start this thing by the end of April, and last year we had the thread up in late February so I figured I may as well get it set up now.
Still waiting to hear back from people, so as of right now we're not committing to any potential new members. If you're interested in joining, please shoot me a PM and you'll be considered in cases where people decline, or back out.
As always, there's potential for a second mock draft to be running as well. There was one last year, so if you don't have a spot here, you may still be able to participate in one on the Habs board. Guess we'll have to wait and see if another one is created.

1. Florida Panthers - Aaron Ekblad
"Although I'm not really fond in selecting a defenseman so high in the draft, Aaron Ekblad is part of the exception. Mainly because there is no consensus franchise player and Ekblad has all the long term intangibles you want from a premier defenseman. He is not the most dynamic skater but he is very effective defensively and he is willing to put the work to succeed. He reminds me a bit of a mix between Pietrangelo (composure and calmness in his game) and Shea Weber (Shot and Strenght). He is not as mean as you would prefer for a guy his size but he is not shy of the physical play either. I'm not the Panthers in real life but IMO they should let him play one more year in junior before making the jump to pro. He could still improve his game without the pressure of performing in the NHL and living in the spotlight of a 1st overall pick."
2. Buffalo Sabres - Leon Draisaitl
"Intelligent playmaking forward with good offensive instincts. Effective in puck possession using his size against defenders and to maintain puck control. Displays top-end vision and can read the play ahead of his peers. With improved skating and a little more physically, he will become a force at higher level."
3. Edmonton Oilers - Samuel Bennett
"Sam is a hard working forward with dynamic offensive skills. He brings a strong physical element with his play and good leadership abilities. He plays a well balanced overall game with impressive on ice awareness and stick skills. We felt his style of play is a great fit for the Oilers as we continue to build our team. We look forward to following his progression over the upcoming season."
4. Calgary Flames - Sam Reinhart
"We are thrilled to land a player of Sam's caliber at this point of the draft, as we feel he could have just as easily gone 1st overall. Sam is an exceptionally smart player with gifted hands and quick feet. He's a hard worker, a natural leader and, in our opinion, first-line centre material. We look forward to having a lethal 1-2 punch with him and Sean Monahan as well as having the possibility of uniting him with his brother Max."
5. New York Islanders - Nikolaj Ehlers
"Love his speed and skill. Also thought it was the kind of pick the islanders might make. Ehlers will be lighting the lamp next to tavares for years."
6. Vancouver Canucks - Michael Dal Colle
"Michael is an extremely versatile forward with a high hockey IQ and strong character. We believe he can excel as a playmaking forward in the National Hockey League while also being more than capable of putting the puck in the net. We like his leadership abilities and the fact he's a strong forechecker who can play both center and the wing. He's also willing to engage physically and has been compared in some circles to Bobby Ryan and Patrick Marleau. We'll take either comparison."
7. Carolina Hurricanes - Nick Ritchie
"Surely the best combination of speed, skills and toughness that this draft has to offer."
8. Toronto Maple Leafs - William Nylander
"High end skating and offensive ability, good bloodlines, and perhaps the future #1C of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Surprised he fell to this low."
9. Winnipeg Jets - Jake Virtanen
"We have some strong defensemen in the system, as well as some interesting offensive centres in Scheifele and Petan, but the wings are sorely lacking skill. By drafting Virtanen, we think we add a bluechip prospect on the wing, and one who could play on our first line for many years. His speed and shot make him a threat everytime he steps on the ice, while he already has the size to play a powergame in this league."
10. Anaheim Ducks (From Ottawa) - Kevin Fiala
"In considering the field of available candidates at #10, we were sort of hoping that Kevin might fiala to us! We don't normally go all willy-nyl-y picking diminutive Europeans, but we have to admit we were perlining towards taking Fiala all along. We wanted a player with a definite scoring tuch, and I think we also got a player in Fiala who can be a great fabbri-cant de jeu as well. Anything kapanen on the draft floor, and while we received a fleury of trade offers for this pick, we ultimately decided that with a winfall "bonus" pick courtesy of the Sens, we could swing for the fences with a high upside player like Fiala."
11. Nashville Predators - Hayden Fleury
"You have to love his size, skating ability, and all-around game, and I think he can be a top three defenceman down the road."
12. Phoenix Coyotes - Jared McCann
"McCann is a two-way center that loves to shoot the puck, but can distribute it well too. We fell in love with his top-notch release and his high hockey IQ. Our scouts believe he should become a top6 forward for our team in a few years."
13. Washington Capitals - Brendan Perlini
"We knew Brendan falling to us was a bit of a stretch but when we realized that he may be available it was a no brainer. We love the fact that he oozes offensive skill, and his professional approach to the game. He is a very bright player who we feel could be a top player on our club at some point."
14. Dallas Stars - Adrian Kempe
"Kempe is one of the youngest players in the draft and has already shown some production in the Mens League of Sweden. Kempe combines a great frame with speed, skill and a willingness to throw hits and go to the dirty areas of the ice. We also believe that the U-18s displayed development in his stickhandling and his heavy shot makes him dangerous from anywhere on the ice."
15. Detroit Red Wings - Robby Fabbri
"Fabbri is a highly skilled and competitive player. Although undersized, Fabbri shows no fear and thrives in high traffic areas. Fabbri possesses great hands, a heavy shot, and great vision, allowing him to be one of the most dynamic players in the OHL. Fabbri is blessed with an extremely high hockey IQ, as well as great skating ability. His lethal combination of agility, hands, and hockey sense make him extremely hard to contain. Fabbri is also a highly dedicated defensive player, already owning a two-way ability well beyond his years."
16. Columbus Blue Jackets - Kasperi Kapanen
"A potential gamebreaker with an elite shot and elusive skating. Hockey is in his blood and he is a fierce competitor. When the best player available is a Finn this makes me very happy."
17. Philadelphia Flyers - Alex Tuch
"Alex has progressed very well this year and his stock has continued to rise in our eyes. He already has NHL size and he plays prototypical Flyer hockey: strong and aggressive. He is a good skater for his size with a nice scoring touch and has a high hockey IQ. He will continue his development with Boston College where he will physically mature, work on his first step quickness and offensive abilities."
18. New York Rangers - Ivan Barbashev
"We are very happy Ivan made it to us, he brings an excellent all around game, as he can generate offense as well as play a grinding physical game. we also feel his ability to play both center and left wing is also an asset. We feel he will be a key part of our core going forward."
19. Minnesota Wild - Sonny Milano
"Milano taking a bit of a drop here from where we had him projected but this is a fantastic selection by the Wild. Milano is a fine skater with a good stride technique and excellent initial speed burst. He has the tools to be a goal scorer in the NHL and has top six upside, something the Wild could use in their prospect pool moving forward."
20. Los Angeles Kings - David Pastrňák
"Pasternak is a flashy, electrifying offensive talent with gifted hands and shiftiness in his feet. He also has a bullet shot and is a very dangerous finisher. He uses quickness and good lateral elusiveness to avoid bigger opponents."
21. Montreal Canadiens - Julius Honka
"Julius Honka may be a bit small for the liking of some of our fans, but his talent and skills are undeniable. Honka is a tremendous skater, very quick and elusive, but what stands out most are his high end offensive skill and his superb hockey sense. His defensive game needs some refinement, but we are confident that his game will translate to the NHL and at the very least he will have a big role on the powerplay, if not 5 on 5."
22. Tampa Bay Lightning - Connor Bleackley
"Bleackley is a nice blend of size, skill and speed. He's strong and balanced on his skates, uses his size to his advantage and has a very good shot with his quick release. He finds lanes and soft zones well and has quick hands in tight spaces."
23. Chicago Blackhawks - Dylan Larkin
"We almost started running to the podium. This was our target from Day 1. Dylan is a high intensity player with fantastic skating ability. He likes to play a North-South game, does not shy away from contact and will shoot first. He's a highly intelligent player and one that has the desire to win. He is the type of player you win playoff games with. He will fit in well with the group we have now. Guys like Hartman and Danault provide a similar gritty, two-way ability. He is committed to Michigan."
24. Pittsburgh Penguins - Nikolay Goldobin
"Goldobin is a decent size winger, great skater, elite stickhandler, creative passer with an elite wrist shot. He is outstanding in the power play and has absolute top level hockey sense on offense. He produced for a very bad Sarnia team, factoring in almost half their offense. In addition he was one of the top players on the ice during the prospects game. We are confident we can work on his consistency and defensive play and believe his skills will allow him to transition to the NHL sooner rather than later."
25. San Jose Sharks - John Quenneville
"Clearly we need a reboot of sorts in San Jose. We feel that John will be a good player for us down the line."
26. St. Louis Blues - Nikita Scherbak
"The St. Louis Blues are so pleased to add a player who wants to learn the game of hockey every single second that he's alive. He's willing to learn, listen, and take advice that is given to him. He came to North America a few short months ago as a late selection in the CHL Import Draft as an offensive hopeful. Nikitia developed into so much more than that. He lead a very poor team in scoring as a rookie, but he maintained his offensive touch even after his team unloaded all their offensive veterans at the trade deadline. Nikitia also developed a very sound defensive game as the season moved along. You can put him out in all situations and feel confident that he's going to give you his best and most likely, create an offensive scoring chance with his incredible anticipation and skating. He's also valuable because he's spent time at all three forward positions. The other thing we love about Nikita is that he learned that the North American game is much faster and that you have to be willing to go to the dirty areas to produce. He isn't afraid to get his nose dirty and he'll take a hit to make a play. We're absolutely thrilled that a player of this caliber was available at our selection because we had him ranked much, much higher. Welcome to St. Louis, Nikita."
27. Colorado Avalanche - Thatcher Demko
"He is big, great net coverage, very athletic when he needs to but he makes most saves look like routine. Led BC to another Beanpot win with a series of great performances this season.
Let me tell you. I saw him put his balls on de table more than once for his college team. He is de best goalie in dis draft so he is de best player for us."
28. Anaheim Ducks - Roland McKeown
"In McKeown, the Ducks are hoping to get a well-rounded future top-4 defenseman with strong leadership ability. We are mindful of some of the scouting concerns that have arisen with him over the course of the season, and while those concerns may be well-founded, he may also be something of a victim of too-close scrutiny for a "jack of all trades" or 'tweener type defenseman, who may not exhibit any single area of dominance, but who has an ability to contribute in a variety of ways."
29. Boston Bruins - Josh Ho-Sang
"Even though there has been some concern about his work ethic, Joshua will bring a plethora of talent to the table. Either he'll learn the Bruins way, or we'll feed him to Chara during an intermission instead of the poor calf we usually sacrifice. We really liked the numbers we saw from Joshua against the London Knights in the OHL playoffs. 15 games is quite the feat."
30. New Jersey Devils - Anton Karlsson
"Karlsson is an intense competitor with great upside. He is tough to play against and gives us both skill and two way play on the wings."
Round 2:
31. Buffalo Sabres - Jakub Vrana
"He plays with determination and drive, has an excellent work ethic and is a very fast skater with excellent all-round skills. His arsenal features a quick accurate release that can fool opposing goaltenders and his ability to find the scoring areas cannot be taught."
32. Florida Panthers - Nick Schmaltz
"Nick is a very agile skater with good vision and a decent shot. He is willing to put the work defensively but he is still raw. He is good at everything but not great. He will benefit from playing a couple seasons with his brother at North Dakota as he needs to get bigger."
33. St. Louis Blues (From Edmonton Oilers) - Brett Pollock
"We feel that Brett fits our obvious need down the middle. Brett is a very good player who brings good size. He works extremely hard in all the zones. After getting a chance, he put up big numbers in an offensive role down the stretch. Most importantly, we hope he fills our need of NOT sucking in the playoffs like we have been. We don't want to become the next San Jose Sharks, so taking a guy who has produced incredibly when it matters is super important to us. Welcome to the Blues, Brett."
34. Calgary Flames - Jack Dougherty
'Jack is a smart, rangy defenseman with good size who thinks a defense-first game but has also shown impressive offensive instincts. His physical game is starting to round into form as well. His ability to play both sides of the puck reminds us of Ryan McDonagh, and not just because he's committed to McDonagh's old alma mater, the U. of Wisconsin."
35. New York Islanders - Brendan Lemieux
"He can play. He's tough as nails. Good bloodlines... what's not to like?"
36. Vancouver Canucks - Eric Cornel
"A forward who can slot at both center and the wing, Eric plays a power game and likes to show off his bullet of a shot. In our opinion he continued to improve throughout the course of this past season and we liked the vision and drive he possesses in the offensive zone. We also like his mobility for a big kid. Many scouts took notice this year that he seemed to make whoever he played with better."
37. Carolina Hurricanes - Anthony DeAngelo
"We love that he has insane offensive qualities and understand that we will work with him on his defensive game. Not the perfect player but that spot, makes it the right time for a high-risk/high reward type of player. But in the top rounds, I prefer to look at kids with superior qualities even if it means tons of work on other areas....that's exactly what DeAngelo is all about. It's development time now!"
38. Anaheim Ducks (From Toronto Maple Leafs) - Brayden Point
After reaching for Fiala with our first pick, it's not exactly a "draft blueprint" style of pick to take the diminutive point producing Point here in the 2nd, but we just feel like he's got a lot of talent and we can't overlook his potential. He has some feistiness in his game to help compensate for his smaller stature, but the bottom line is that he's just such a smart offensive player, we hope that one day he can put up... Points.
39. Buffalo Sabres (From Winnipeg Jets, Minnesota Wild) Ville Husso
"Husso is a big body, with good mobility and strong technical skills, displays good athleticism as well as a sense of calmness. Had pretty good stats for a 18-year-old on an under .500 team in the men's league."
40. Ottawa Senators - Travis Sanheim
"The word "revelation" has been used to describe Travis Sanheim's play, and rise to prominence in the prospect world this year. While obviously a big kid, he started to really grab our eye when his confidence with the puck began to rise, leading to a call to represent Canada at the U18s. As a late-bloomer with a large frame, good mobility, and a sure first pass, Ottawa is excited to see just how much further he can progress."

"Donato has the bloodlines, while he is not the skater his father is, Ryan displays an excellent set of hands, a great motor and even better hockey sense. Ryan anticipates the play, he's dominated the league he is in and looks to make an impact every time he is on the ice. We expect Ryan will develop into a smart two-way player at the NHL level."
46. Nashville Predators (From Detroit Red Wings) - Dominik Masin
"Masin improved his skating and all-around game this season - by the U-18's he was one of the best defencemen in the entire tournament. A strong leader with grit and a great work ethic, Masin projects as a solid two-way defenceman."
47. Columbus Blue Jackets - Chase De Leo
"Kid from California who plays with a smile on his face and loves the game. Working hard at getting stronger in the legs and knows what he has to do in order to make the jump to next level. Already has great chemistry with top prospect Ollie Bjorkstrand and was a roomie with top player Ryan Johansen so he will be a welcome addition to our training camp roster."
48. Philadelphia Flyers - Hunter Smith
"We have watched Hunter closely this season and have seen great progress from him. He needs to work on his agility but has good North-South skating for his size. We love his play in the corners and along the boards. We believe he is a late bloomer and with more work his style of play would transition to a strong possession player that can wear down opposing defence."
49. Tampa Bay Lightning (From New York Rangers) - Jack Glover
"Jack Glover, has provided the type of solid, two-way play that has been his stock in trade this season. In five games for the U.S., Glover has netted one goal and added three assists while posting a +2 rating. His point total has Glover among the top scoring defenseman at this U18 tournament."
50. Buffalo Sabres (From Minnesota Wild) - Spencer Watson
"Has a goal scorers's instinct for finding open scoring areas on the ice coupled with a deadly accurate shot. He is a swift skater with an elusive element making him a hard player to stop during one-on-one chances."

"Hawryluk is a spunky offensive minded forward who tries to play bigger than his vitals would suggest. He will get involved physically as in fighting his way to greasy areas to make things happen. Has a good shot and some solid offensive instincts."

We have a strong defense core in St. Louis, so adding Brycen makes us even deeper."

"Oskar is a strong two-way player with a big body who plays a rounded and robust game. He's not the fleetest of foot but once he gets position in the zone he can be handful, especially in front of the net. He has leadership qualities and stepped up his production both in international play and for his club team in the playoffs."

"We're a bit busy at the moment, so we'll just say, pet peeve, it's not "Dyson", he doesn't suck, but he can put on a clinic."

"We were impressed with the power behind his shot and the ability to get it through traffic. His overall game is climbing but his skating needs improvement but we are confident he will work very hard on it."

"Justin is a late bloomer with a big frame. He's shown flashes of good offensive instincts, as well as some tenacity. We hope he can develop more consistency in his game and keep growing. We've liked his upward projection and he did very well considering it was his first CHL season."

"Has a solid 6`2 frame to fill out and he plays an intense, forceful power game. Very coachable and adapts to the play quickly. Led his team in both powerplay and shorthanded goals. Committed to the North Dakota program for next year."

"Kaapo is the type of goaltender made for the NHL today - he's big, he's a sensational puck mover and he moves well in the net. He's shown he can be a workhorse with Blues and we think he's ready to take his game to the next level."

His size will always leave question marks, but smaller players are making their niche in the NHL these days and there will always be room for a guy with his skillset, should he bulk up a little bit."
70. Ottawa Senators - Linus Soderstrom
"While ranked behind a handful of goalies in this year's draft class, we think Linus has shown a developmental curve that suggests he might have even higher potential than most, if not all, of them. Has been tested by lots of rubber this year on a pretty mediocre team, and still proved as proficient as other older, even higher rated, goalie prospects. He shows amazing calm and control in his crease for a goalie as big and quick/athletic. We look forward to seeing the next step of his development in the SEL."

"Our head scout being located in Sherbrooke, we have seen Daniel play a lot these last couple of years and feel he was just too talented to pass up at this point. We're aware of his weaknesses, namely his puck decisions and his lack of size. We're also excited by his strengths: skating, hands, vision, playmaking ability."
74. Washington Capitals - Luc Snuggerrud
"I like his skating, character, two-way ability and hockey sense to stay in position."
75. Dallas Stars - Jake Walman
"After being transitioned from forward to Defense, Walman has bloomed into a dynamic defenseman. He may be a long term project but his upside is quite high. We are willing to gamble on Walman as he displays incredible skating ability and has shown his natural athleticism at the defense position. He is starting to show his offensive ability from the back-end and while growing into his body he has shown a willingness to get physical in his defensive zone. Above all we like his poise and decision making. Slated to go to Providence College next season we hope to see Walman continue to grow physically and offensively while developing the nuances of the defensive game."
76. Detroit Red Wings - Connor Chatham
"Connor Chatham is a talented powerforward. He thrives down low and around the crease where his lightning quick release and strength are consistently on display. He's a very smart player, who can distribute the puck just as well as he can shoot. He also loves to throw his weight around and has become one of the OHL's best bodycheckers. He plays a pro-style game, rarely making mistakes. He's really just starting to scratch of the surface of his potential, but he will have to continue to improve skating and defensive game as well as his consistency."
77. Columbus Blue Jackets - Shane Eiserman
"Big strong New England kid. Has the speed and size to be a force in straight lines and is showing flashes of high level playmaking skills as he learns to control and refine his game. Committed to University of New Hampshire next year because it made his Grandma happy. Such a nice boy."
78. New York Islanders (From Philadelphia Flyers) - Keegan Iverson
"Didn't have a very good playoffs, but I'm hoping he'll bounce back next year"
79. New York Rangers - Maxim Letunov missed selection
80. Minnesota Wild - Michael Bunting
"Michael Bunting has not had an easy route. Passed over twice in the OHL draft, his third year of eligibility was a charm and he was selected by the Soo Greyhounds in the 6th round. Posting 42 points in 48 games, Bunting had an excellent first year despite a slow start. After some mistakes in his game were corrected by the coaching, Bunting displayed excellent work ethic, high hockey IQ and a what it takes to be a great teammate. He dipped in the rankings thanks mostly due to a knee injury he suffered in January, however the setback did not require surgery and Bunting came back strong and hasn't missed a stride. We feel he has the potential to be a later second rounder, earlier third rounder and anything past that is a steal."

"Dylan Sadowy is a player who progressed incredibly throughout the year. From a bottom six player to a top six player with results. Sadowy is a player who gives you 200% every single shift. He leaves every last ounce of energy on the ice. He can play center or wing. He's incredible on the PK. A treat to watch. He gives defenseman a hard time. You don't want to see #10 come out for a PK against you. You just don't. He's always crashing the net and he's always willing to pay the price. He'll drop the gloves if need be, although we want him to be cautious of those times because we feel he can develop into something more. He scored goals during the season, but what we love even more is that he he scored goals during the playoffs too. 4 goals in 5 playoff games is something that we value greatly. He doesn't come without flaws though. He skates hard, but he needs to work on his balance. He needs to also work on his passing. He needs to add some more muscle to his frame and he needs to use his size more. We didn't feel Mr. Sadowy would be available by our next selection and he's a player you just can't pass on any longer. He's not the most talented player in the draft, but he's definitely one of the few you can pencil in for a long NHL career without a worry. And for that reason, we welcome him to St. Louis where we feel he will become a fan favourite for years."

"Edgars was ignored in the last draft as he struggled in his jump to North America, but later last season, the transition became easier. He showed feist, drove to the net constantly and he was rewarded. At first, he would be challenged to fight for his play style and had his bell rung but he clearly took lessons and returned the favour. Overall we believe he'll continue to fine tune his skills to be a solid energy player."

"Although his stats may not seem impressive, we feel like Nelson is a player with significant untapped potential. He's a great skater, and a great thinker, and we feel that those two elements can combine to make him a very effective defender. He is indeed a very smart player, so at the worst, we think he will find his niche in the NHL, but if he can become more consistent offensively, he has the skill to play on a second line someday."

"Michael's offensive skills and potency in minor hockey is well-known to us, but we were further impressed by his ability at a young age to figure out how to use his growing frame to both protect the puck, and separate it from opponents. Though he dealt with a few growing pains (in multiple senses) defensively (bulking up through the year resulted in foot work getting exposed a bit by good players in the playoffs; handed a pretty big role at a young age, too), we're excited by the kind of player he is becoming, and the idea that next year he could earn the kind of developmental minutes/role(s) that you want any intriguing prospect to get, as soon as next season. A player who models his game after Matt Duchene's offensive flair matched with defensive responsibility, he's committed to working on the kind of explosive first step he's going to need at the next step, and we expect a re-ignition of his latent offensive skill given a bit of opportunity and experience."

Mistele had shown a lot of promise as a 17 year old, scoring 60 points while boasting a large frame. He has a good shot and can drop the gloves, which is something we like in Winnipeg."

"I like his combination of competitiveness and skill. He performed well at both the Ivan Hlinka and U-18, raising his draft stock as the season went along. Offence might not be his strong suit, but he contributes with a great breakout pass, a good shot, and quality skating ability. But, he adapted and stayed out the Sin Bin in the final two games, while producing, to help Denmark reach the highest group next year. We feel that Mads is a very safe pick as we feel he has all the tools to be a very effective bottom-6 player. However, he may develop into more as he will have a bigger offensive role next year with Edmonton. We're excited see he does in the Memorial Cup!"

He's a dedicated player and has improved every aspect of his game substantially. Descheneau's lightning quick hands and amazing edge work make him insanely difficult to contain. Descheneau must continue to improve his skating ability and consistency. Sometimes he has a tendency to float and get complacent without the puck."

We believe these are all problems that come with a kid out of high school and they can all be easily corrected. We feel Slattery is worth the risk of a 6th round pick and him being a local kid only helps."

He was even used to protect leads at the end of games, in front 2012 draftee Ryan Culkin. He has the knack and the timing to deliver thunderous hits, he's really not fun to play against. While he's not Niedermayer on skates, we feel he's fluid enough to have a Pro career."

"Darby Llewellyn is an energetic goal-scoring winger. Llewellyn scores the vast majority of his goals from hard work and an unrelenting work ethic. He is terrific on the forecheck, where he anticipates the play well and will throw his weight around. Where he is at his best around the net. Llewellyn has a knack for redirecting shots and is extremely difficult to move around the net. Despite his lack of assists, he’s shown an ability to effectively distribute the puck. Llewellyn will have to improve his skating, specifically his explosiveness, hands, and shot. He’s a project, but he has all the tools to be a quality goal-scorer in the NHL."
167. Minesota Wild (From Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers) - Daniel Muzito-Bagenda
"Bagenda is a very powerful skater, nice long strides, quick and agile. He has a large fram at 6'1 and close to the 200 pound mark and he uses every pound of his body to protect the puck. He's hard to knock down, very stellar and can throw a mean hit too. He has a good work ethic and has done well for himself in Sweden. We are thrilled to have him available this low and will pay extra close attention to this young man for the years to come before he becomes an NHL'er."
168. Philadelphia Flyers - Brandon Halverson
"Great size for a goalie, tall and lanky, which allows him to move well in his net. He has quick reflexes and is a battler that fights for the puck through traffic. His most intriguing strength is his puck handling skills. He can act as a third defenseman that helps move the puck out of the zone quickly. He still needs work on his technical game and rebound control. With quality coaching and more game time we believe Brandon can improve these aspects of his game and add quality goaltending depth to our prospect pool."

172. Montreal Canadiens - Arkhip Nekolenko
"Very gifted scorer with size to go along with it(6'3, 185). Has an absolute canon of a shot. Has very good hockey sense, and is not afraid of the gritty stuff. Plays well around the net, and takes advantage of scoring opportunities. Can completely dominate on the ice. Illness hurt his season, and likely his draft stock. A second concern with him is the fact that his older brother also plays for the KHL team that drafted him, so the russian still in russia factor is very present. However, in the 6th round, I feel it is appropriate to take the risk on such a talented individual."

"We love the potential here. Certainly a player that is much more capable than he's let on. First moving to a different city, then derailed by a lingering shoulder injury, which prompted a slow start, which in turn prompted a trade. We can understand the bad season. He had a great 2012/13 and was penciled in as a 1st rounder due to his size, skating ability and hard shot. We are hoping he gets back on track."

"The big winger has a similarly big shot. Uses his body to protect the puck and has enough puck skills to be successful at it as well as above average passing. 179. Calgary Flames (From Anaheim Ducks) - Emil Johansson
"Emil has decent size, plays a smart game and can move the puck well. He doesn't excel at any one thing but he could turn into a depth utility guy that all teams can use."
180. St. Louis Blues (From Boston Bruins) - Ashton Sautner
"Ashton may be an overager, but he had a breakout year this season for Edmonton and he was a big part of why they won the WHL Championship and the Memorial Cup. A fantastic season, a good playoffs, and a great Memorial Cup. Sautner posted 58 points in 97 games this season. On top of that, Sautner posted a massive +73 in those 97 games. Ashton will be the defensive leader on the Oil Kings next year as they look to repeat."

"Fast player, has quality puck skills, heavy shot, surprising physicality for that size, da, he good for a Latvian."

"An offensive-minded defenseman with a smooth skating stride, Rathgeb has a bomb from the point. He may not be flashy or physical, but we like his potential as a solid defensive addition to our prospect group and are excited to see how he develops going forward."
187. Carolina Hurricanes - Dexter Dancs
"Dancs grew up and bulked up since 1 year ago, when he was first eligible and is now a big 6-2'' 205lb power forward. Great hands, great skating, pretty physical, and was just used in all the situations you can think of. Seriously in the 7th round, we feel lucky that he was still available."
188. Toronto Maple Leafs - August Gunnarsson
"Little brother of current Toronto Maple Leafs Defenseman Carl Gunnarson. Have to take him at this point in the draft especially considering the brother factor. His name sounds like a stripper/pornstar too."
189. Winnipeg Jets - Kelly Summers
"Kelly is a project as he played in lower-tier league and his committed to Clarkson University next season. However, we like what he showed this year (60 pts in 56 games, winning the Fred Page cup) and like his size already. He has a powerful shot, but it's his hockey sense that separates him from the pack. He thinks like an NHLer already. He will need to work on his skating ability, but we are really happy to be able to select him in the 7th round."
190. Ottawa Senators - Chris Wilkie
"While Chris has always brought a significant amount of offensive ability/instinct to the game with his hockey I.Q., hands, playmaking, and shot, we've also noticed that his play away from the puck has started to come along under coach Jim Hulton. Described as a hard worker who also shows leadership in the locker room, we're elated to pick him up this late in the draft... even if he's a Habs fan."
191. Phoenix Coyotes (From New Jersey Devils) - Nikita Lyamkin
"Lyamkin crossed the pond with a lot of promise, experts labeling him as a future 1st rounder after the Ivan-Hlinka. You could understand them for rating him so high, he came with the whole package, the shot, the skating, the vision, the size and the skill. Problem was not his ceiling, it was putting his tools together to succeed and improve. It proved to be quite the problem this year in Chicoutimi. He started out the year with top minutes, as any future first rounder in his draft year. At the end of the season though, he was surpassed by Rookie phenom Frédéric Allard who took his spot on the top PP and on the first pairing. Nikita started the year as a potential first rounder and ended it on the bottom pair with no minutes at the end of a game. Quite the crash and burn season. We saw a glimpse of light at the end of the year at the U-18 where he played with more aplomb. Obviously, we think Nikita's much better than what he displayed this year and look forward to work with a raw player like him. He's our homerun pick."
192. Nashville Predators - Patrick Sanvido
"Sanvido has decent mobility for a 6-5 220 behemoth., and was a minute muncher on Windsor's blueline, especially after Koekkoek went down with injury. A stay-at-home defender with some jam to his game, we think Sanvido will compete for a bottom pairing NHL spot in five or six years."
193. Phoenix Coyotes - Keven Bouchard
"Bouchard was playing behind one of the best CHL goaltenders in Bibeau, and previously to that François Tremblay was eating all the minutes, so he's certainly not a very known player. We believe he is a gem in the rough, we like his size and his athleticism and we were never disappointed when he was playing."
194. Washington Capitals - Hannes Björninen
"A dark horse pick that can pan out as a long term project - he's a solid playmaker who sees the ice well."
195. Dallas Stars - Michael Prapavessis

"Philp is a diminutive forward with the capability to play both wing and centre. Rocket of a shot, sneaky good passer, and a slick stickhandler. Deceptively quick - uses quick bursts of speed to dart in scoring areas. Undersized, but doesn't back down and has a great touch around the net. Not much of a two-way game and sometimes prone to over-handling the puck."
197. Columbus Blue Jackets - Ryan Mantha
"A 6'5 raw project to work with. His uncle Moe was a beast of a defender and we think Ryan will be just as tough if not as ugly. He signed intent to go to North Dakota but we may encourage him to go to the OHL and get more practice hurting people. He was drafted by Sault Ste. Marie which is a nice place for a visit with lots of saunas."

199. New York Rangers - Justin Gutierrez (selected by Grant McCagg)
"We really like Gutierrez's long-term upside. By playoff time the lanky rookie was centering Tri-City's top line, and he was quite effective offensively. He also has some jam to his game, picking up 103 PIM's during the regular season."
200. Minnesota Wild - Emil Aronsson
"He's quick, he can shoot, he battles and he plays well defensively too. He has a lot of work ahead of him but the tools are there. At this late in the draft, there is pretty much no risk and all reward."
201. Los Angeles Kings - Marcus McIvor
"I will be absolutely shocked if McIvor goes undrafted this year (in fact, I'll be surprised if it's not LA who drafts him). McIvor is one of the top stay at home defenseman in the league and possesses all the qualities necessary to continue his defensive prowess at the NHL level. At 6'1, 235lbs, he's able to assert himself in front of the net, in the corners, and his solid skating ability allows him to be a factor on the open ice too. For as good as he is defensively, he's not terrible with the puck and makes smart decisions to avoid turnovers in his own end and was even quarterbacking the Battalion powerplay this year. He's the type of guy who could play 10+ years on a third pairing."
202. Montreal Canadiens - Eetu Sopanen
"Eetu is a massive defenceman at 6'5 225 lbs, who is also in possession of a lot of raw talent. He plays an effective two way game and has the skating ability to make plays in the transition game, and make plays in his own zone. Eetu remains a very raw prospect since he has missed a lot of time due to injuries over the past two seasons. That the injuries were related to the neck and back only heightens my concerns. However, the talent, mixed with the size, makes me feel comfortable in rolling the dice on what could be a very effective NHL player with only a 7th round pick on the line if it fails."
203. Tampa Bay Lightning - Steven Harper
"Steven had a great year for Belleville even as they had a trying year. The trade from Erie work out fantastic for him as his game reached another level."
204. Chicago Blackhawks - Blake Weyrick
"Though he did not have the best year, Blake Weyrick is a huge goalie with good athleticism. We hope he can improve after spending several years as a starter at Brown University."

"Forsling saw tremendous growth over the course of the season and posted a terrific performance at the U-18s. He's slightly undersized, but highly mobile, owning a smooth stride and terrific top-end speed. Also has a great shot from the point. He's a heady player who rarely makes mistakes with the puck. Must improve his defensive game."
207. St. Louis Blues - Colby Cave
"Cave is an incredible three zone player that we're surprised is still on the board. We're very happy to add Colby to our roster and think that we got an absolute steal in the 7th round. 7th Rounders don't generally become NHL players, and we believe that Cave will be."
208. Colorado Avalanche - Zach Bratina
"Gritty and fast winger with good pro potential. Great on the cycle and below the goal line. Offensive ability seemed to shine a lot after his trade to the Battalion. We're confident he can grow that to be a top OHL player by the end of his junior career."
209. Anaheim Ducks - C.J. Yakimowicz
"We opted to go with a project player with size with our last pick. We drafted a couple of smaller forwards earlier, and a lot of D, so Yakimowicz gave us that extra variety in the draft. He's got good size and we are hoping to see him blossom next season in junior with increased responsibility and opportunity. He will need to engage physically and work on his puck skills, he is very raw, but we are hopeful that he can take the steps necessary to emerge as a power forward prospect in a few years, adding a dimension which we felt was lacking in our draft this year."
210. Boston Bruins - Karson Kuhlman
"Karson is undersized, but makes up for it with effort and energy. He can force take-overs by using his speed to fearlessly crash the net, and cash in on rebounds."

- As with the more recent drafts, we will begin the draft with no set time limit on the picks. We're all active posters, so let's try to make this a very active draft. 1. Florida Panthers - Aaron Ekblad
"Although I'm not really fond in selecting a defenseman so high in the draft, Aaron Ekblad is part of the exception. Mainly because there is no consensus franchise player and Ekblad has all the long term intangibles you want from a premier defenseman. He is not the most dynamic skater but he is very effective defensively and he is willing to put the work to succeed. He reminds me a bit of a mix between Pietrangelo (composure and calmness in his game) and Shea Weber (Shot and Strenght). He is not as mean as you would prefer for a guy his size but he is not shy of the physical play either. I'm not the Panthers in real life but IMO they should let him play one more year in junior before making the jump to pro. He could still improve his game without the pressure of performing in the NHL and living in the spotlight of a 1st overall pick."
2. Buffalo Sabres - Leon Draisaitl
"Intelligent playmaking forward with good offensive instincts. Effective in puck possession using his size against defenders and to maintain puck control. Displays top-end vision and can read the play ahead of his peers. With improved skating and a little more physically, he will become a force at higher level."
3. Edmonton Oilers - Samuel Bennett
"Sam is a hard working forward with dynamic offensive skills. He brings a strong physical element with his play and good leadership abilities. He plays a well balanced overall game with impressive on ice awareness and stick skills. We felt his style of play is a great fit for the Oilers as we continue to build our team. We look forward to following his progression over the upcoming season."
4. Calgary Flames - Sam Reinhart
"We are thrilled to land a player of Sam's caliber at this point of the draft, as we feel he could have just as easily gone 1st overall. Sam is an exceptionally smart player with gifted hands and quick feet. He's a hard worker, a natural leader and, in our opinion, first-line centre material. We look forward to having a lethal 1-2 punch with him and Sean Monahan as well as having the possibility of uniting him with his brother Max."
5. New York Islanders - Nikolaj Ehlers
"Love his speed and skill. Also thought it was the kind of pick the islanders might make. Ehlers will be lighting the lamp next to tavares for years."

"Michael is an extremely versatile forward with a high hockey IQ and strong character. We believe he can excel as a playmaking forward in the National Hockey League while also being more than capable of putting the puck in the net. We like his leadership abilities and the fact he's a strong forechecker who can play both center and the wing. He's also willing to engage physically and has been compared in some circles to Bobby Ryan and Patrick Marleau. We'll take either comparison."
7. Carolina Hurricanes - Nick Ritchie
"Surely the best combination of speed, skills and toughness that this draft has to offer."
8. Toronto Maple Leafs - William Nylander
"High end skating and offensive ability, good bloodlines, and perhaps the future #1C of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Surprised he fell to this low."
9. Winnipeg Jets - Jake Virtanen
"We have some strong defensemen in the system, as well as some interesting offensive centres in Scheifele and Petan, but the wings are sorely lacking skill. By drafting Virtanen, we think we add a bluechip prospect on the wing, and one who could play on our first line for many years. His speed and shot make him a threat everytime he steps on the ice, while he already has the size to play a powergame in this league."
10. Anaheim Ducks (From Ottawa) - Kevin Fiala
"In considering the field of available candidates at #10, we were sort of hoping that Kevin might fiala to us! We don't normally go all willy-nyl-y picking diminutive Europeans, but we have to admit we were perlining towards taking Fiala all along. We wanted a player with a definite scoring tuch, and I think we also got a player in Fiala who can be a great fabbri-cant de jeu as well. Anything kapanen on the draft floor, and while we received a fleury of trade offers for this pick, we ultimately decided that with a winfall "bonus" pick courtesy of the Sens, we could swing for the fences with a high upside player like Fiala."
11. Nashville Predators - Hayden Fleury
"You have to love his size, skating ability, and all-around game, and I think he can be a top three defenceman down the road."
12. Phoenix Coyotes - Jared McCann
"McCann is a two-way center that loves to shoot the puck, but can distribute it well too. We fell in love with his top-notch release and his high hockey IQ. Our scouts believe he should become a top6 forward for our team in a few years."
13. Washington Capitals - Brendan Perlini
"We knew Brendan falling to us was a bit of a stretch but when we realized that he may be available it was a no brainer. We love the fact that he oozes offensive skill, and his professional approach to the game. He is a very bright player who we feel could be a top player on our club at some point."
14. Dallas Stars - Adrian Kempe
"Kempe is one of the youngest players in the draft and has already shown some production in the Mens League of Sweden. Kempe combines a great frame with speed, skill and a willingness to throw hits and go to the dirty areas of the ice. We also believe that the U-18s displayed development in his stickhandling and his heavy shot makes him dangerous from anywhere on the ice."
15. Detroit Red Wings - Robby Fabbri
"Fabbri is a highly skilled and competitive player. Although undersized, Fabbri shows no fear and thrives in high traffic areas. Fabbri possesses great hands, a heavy shot, and great vision, allowing him to be one of the most dynamic players in the OHL. Fabbri is blessed with an extremely high hockey IQ, as well as great skating ability. His lethal combination of agility, hands, and hockey sense make him extremely hard to contain. Fabbri is also a highly dedicated defensive player, already owning a two-way ability well beyond his years."
16. Columbus Blue Jackets - Kasperi Kapanen
"A potential gamebreaker with an elite shot and elusive skating. Hockey is in his blood and he is a fierce competitor. When the best player available is a Finn this makes me very happy."
17. Philadelphia Flyers - Alex Tuch
"Alex has progressed very well this year and his stock has continued to rise in our eyes. He already has NHL size and he plays prototypical Flyer hockey: strong and aggressive. He is a good skater for his size with a nice scoring touch and has a high hockey IQ. He will continue his development with Boston College where he will physically mature, work on his first step quickness and offensive abilities."
18. New York Rangers - Ivan Barbashev
"We are very happy Ivan made it to us, he brings an excellent all around game, as he can generate offense as well as play a grinding physical game. we also feel his ability to play both center and left wing is also an asset. We feel he will be a key part of our core going forward."
19. Minnesota Wild - Sonny Milano
"Milano taking a bit of a drop here from where we had him projected but this is a fantastic selection by the Wild. Milano is a fine skater with a good stride technique and excellent initial speed burst. He has the tools to be a goal scorer in the NHL and has top six upside, something the Wild could use in their prospect pool moving forward."
20. Los Angeles Kings - David Pastrňák
"Pasternak is a flashy, electrifying offensive talent with gifted hands and shiftiness in his feet. He also has a bullet shot and is a very dangerous finisher. He uses quickness and good lateral elusiveness to avoid bigger opponents."
21. Montreal Canadiens - Julius Honka
"Julius Honka may be a bit small for the liking of some of our fans, but his talent and skills are undeniable. Honka is a tremendous skater, very quick and elusive, but what stands out most are his high end offensive skill and his superb hockey sense. His defensive game needs some refinement, but we are confident that his game will translate to the NHL and at the very least he will have a big role on the powerplay, if not 5 on 5."
22. Tampa Bay Lightning - Connor Bleackley
"Bleackley is a nice blend of size, skill and speed. He's strong and balanced on his skates, uses his size to his advantage and has a very good shot with his quick release. He finds lanes and soft zones well and has quick hands in tight spaces."
23. Chicago Blackhawks - Dylan Larkin
"We almost started running to the podium. This was our target from Day 1. Dylan is a high intensity player with fantastic skating ability. He likes to play a North-South game, does not shy away from contact and will shoot first. He's a highly intelligent player and one that has the desire to win. He is the type of player you win playoff games with. He will fit in well with the group we have now. Guys like Hartman and Danault provide a similar gritty, two-way ability. He is committed to Michigan."
24. Pittsburgh Penguins - Nikolay Goldobin
"Goldobin is a decent size winger, great skater, elite stickhandler, creative passer with an elite wrist shot. He is outstanding in the power play and has absolute top level hockey sense on offense. He produced for a very bad Sarnia team, factoring in almost half their offense. In addition he was one of the top players on the ice during the prospects game. We are confident we can work on his consistency and defensive play and believe his skills will allow him to transition to the NHL sooner rather than later."
25. San Jose Sharks - John Quenneville
"Clearly we need a reboot of sorts in San Jose. We feel that John will be a good player for us down the line."
26. St. Louis Blues - Nikita Scherbak
"The St. Louis Blues are so pleased to add a player who wants to learn the game of hockey every single second that he's alive. He's willing to learn, listen, and take advice that is given to him. He came to North America a few short months ago as a late selection in the CHL Import Draft as an offensive hopeful. Nikitia developed into so much more than that. He lead a very poor team in scoring as a rookie, but he maintained his offensive touch even after his team unloaded all their offensive veterans at the trade deadline. Nikitia also developed a very sound defensive game as the season moved along. You can put him out in all situations and feel confident that he's going to give you his best and most likely, create an offensive scoring chance with his incredible anticipation and skating. He's also valuable because he's spent time at all three forward positions. The other thing we love about Nikita is that he learned that the North American game is much faster and that you have to be willing to go to the dirty areas to produce. He isn't afraid to get his nose dirty and he'll take a hit to make a play. We're absolutely thrilled that a player of this caliber was available at our selection because we had him ranked much, much higher. Welcome to St. Louis, Nikita."

"He is big, great net coverage, very athletic when he needs to but he makes most saves look like routine. Led BC to another Beanpot win with a series of great performances this season.
Let me tell you. I saw him put his balls on de table more than once for his college team. He is de best goalie in dis draft so he is de best player for us."
28. Anaheim Ducks - Roland McKeown

After reaching for Fiala with our first pick, it's not exactly a "draft blueprint" style of pick to take the diminutive point producing Point here in the 2nd, but we just feel like he's got a lot of talent and we can't overlook his potential. He has some feistiness in his game to help compensate for his smaller stature, but the bottom line is that he's just such a smart offensive player, we hope that one day he can put up... Points.

"Michael Bunting has not had an easy route. Passed over twice in the OHL draft, his third year of eligibility was a charm and he was selected by the Soo Greyhounds in the 6th round. Posting 42 points in 48 games, Bunting had an excellent first year despite a slow start. After some mistakes in his game were corrected by the coaching, Bunting displayed excellent work ethic, high hockey IQ and a what it takes to be a great teammate. He dipped in the rankings thanks mostly due to a knee injury he suffered in January, however the setback did not require surgery and Bunting came back strong and hasn't missed a stride. We feel he has the potential to be a later second rounder, earlier third rounder and anything past that is a steal."

"Wallmark has first-class hockey sense and vision. Very smart player and a highly skilled playmaker. Has good puck control and will also battle hard for the puck. Good defensive game and face-off skills. Major concern is his skating ability, as he lacks speed and acceleration."

"We are very pleased to have been able to add Ryan Collins to our prospect pool. Ryan has all the tools to develop into a nice shutdown dman at the nhl level. "Dylan Sadowy is a player who progressed incredibly throughout the year. From a bottom six player to a top six player with results. Sadowy is a player who gives you 200% every single shift. He leaves every last ounce of energy on the ice. He can play center or wing. He's incredible on the PK. A treat to watch. He gives defenseman a hard time. You don't want to see #10 come out for a PK against you. You just don't. He's always crashing the net and he's always willing to pay the price. He'll drop the gloves if need be, although we want him to be cautious of those times because we feel he can develop into something more. He scored goals during the season, but what we love even more is that he he scored goals during the playoffs too. 4 goals in 5 playoff games is something that we value greatly. He doesn't come without flaws though. He skates hard, but he needs to work on his balance. He needs to also work on his passing. He needs to add some more muscle to his frame and he needs to use his size more. We didn't feel Mr. Sadowy would be available by our next selection and he's a player you just can't pass on any longer. He's not the most talented player in the draft, but he's definitely one of the few you can pencil in for a long NHL career without a worry. And for that reason, we welcome him to St. Louis where we feel he will become a fan favourite for years."

"Edgars was ignored in the last draft as he struggled in his jump to North America, but later last season, the transition became easier. He showed feist, drove to the net constantly and he was rewarded. Overall we believe he'll continue to fine tune his skills to be a solid energy player."

"Michael's offensive skills and potency in minor hockey is well-known to us, but we were further impressed by his ability at a young age to figure out how to use his growing frame to both protect the puck, and separate it from opponents. Though he dealt with a few growing pains (in multiple senses) defensively (bulking up through the year resulted in foot work getting exposed a bit by good players in the playoffs; handed a pretty big role at a young age, too), we're excited by the kind of player he is becoming, and the idea that next year he could earn the kind of developmental minutes/role(s) that you want any intriguing prospect to get, as soon as next season. A player who models his game after Matt Duchene's offensive flair matched with defensive responsibility, he's committed to working on the kind of explosive first step he's going to need at the next step, and we expect a re-ignition of his latent offensive skill given a bit of opportunity and experience."

"Once again, teams usually like rising players, and like Gardiner, Mistele has taken a drop this year compared to the last, but the Whalers as a whole had an abysmal season, 30 points worse than last year. Mistele had shown a lot of promise as a 17 year old, scoring 60 points while boasting a large frame. He has a good shot and can drop the gloves, which is something we like in Winnipeg."

"I like his combination of competitiveness and skill. He performed well at both the Ivan Hlinka and U-18, raising his draft stock as the season went along. He played regularly in the Swiss Men's League playoffs this spring as a 17-year-old, and his coach at the U-18's remarked on Rod's tenacity to win puck battles."

"The small converted winger plays with a lot of energy, continuously found in the right place: in front of the net. "Aaron Irving had a great rookie campaign in the WHL with his hometown Edmonton Oil Kings. Irving brings a solid two-way game to the table. At 6'1" 190 lbs, Irving has a good frame, which he loves to use to impose his will on the opposition. Irving plays a no nonsense game, making simple, efficient plays with few mistakes. Offence might not be his strong suit, but he contributes with a great breakout pass, a good shot, and quality skating ability. Irving has to continue to hone his skills as well as his decision-making and consistency."

"Mads Eller is an overager, who we feel is a big part of the Oil Kings being a Memorial Cup team. When he went to play intentional hockey in the World Juniors, you could see how much he's adapted the North American style with the sheer amount of penalty minutes he took. But, he adapted and stayed out the Sin Bin in the final two games, while producing, to help Denmark reach the highest group next year. We feel that Mads is a very safe pick as we feel he has all the tools to be a very effective bottom-6 player. However, he may develop into more as he will have a bigger offensive role next year with Edmonton. We're excited see he does in the Memorial Cup!"

"Lyamkin crossed the pond with a lot of promise, experts labeling him as a future 1st rounder after the Ivan-Hlinka. You could understand them for rating him so high, he came with the whole package, the shot, the skating, the vision, the size and the skill. Problem was not his ceiling, it was putting his tools together to succeed and improve. It proved to be quite the problem this year in Chicoutimi. He started out the year with top minutes, as any future first rounder in his draft year. At the end of the season though, he was surpassed by Rookie phenom Frédéric Allard who took his spot on the top PP and on the first pairing. Nikita started the year as a potential first rounder and ended it on the bottom pair with no minutes at the end of a game. Quite the crash and burn season. We saw a glimpse of light at the end of the year at the U-18 where he played with more aplomb. Obviously, we think Nikita's much better than what he displayed this year and look forward to work with a raw player like him. He's our homerun pick."

At 6'1, 235lbs, he's able to assert himself in front of the net, in the corners, and his solid skating ability allows him to be a factor on the open ice too. For as good as he is defensively, he's not terrible with the puck and makes smart decisions to avoid turnovers in his own end and was even quarterbacking the Battalion powerplay this year. He's the type of guy who could play 10+ years on a third pairing."

"We opted to go with a project player with size with our last pick. We drafted a couple of smaller forwards earlier, and a lot of D, so Yakimowicz gave us that extra variety in the draft. He's got good size and we are hoping to see him blossom next season in junior with increased responsibility and opportunity. He will need to engage physically and work on his puck skills, he is very raw, but we are hopeful that he can take the steps necessary to emerge as a power forward prospect in a few years, adding a dimension which we felt was lacking in our draft this year."

"Karson is undersized, but makes up for it with effort and energy. He can force take-overs by using his speed to fearlessly crash the net, and cash in on rebounds."
