All of them except maybe Dunn's. That doesn't mean all those goals are "his fault," just it's impossible for him to stop medium/high danger scoring chances if there's any kind of puck movement. If you compare Quick's 2018-19 season to the other starters, his low danger save % was only slightly below average, but his medium and high danger save %'s were 2nd to last and dead last respectively.

1st goal, a bit of luck to deflect off Doughty. 2nd goal, 50/50, it was a nice shot, top shelf (maybe athelticism could have gotten this one?). 3rd goal, he should have had. 4th goal, lol....no way is his lack of agility to be blamed for that one, what's he gonna do, not respect the cross ice pass one timer? 5th goal....yeah, probably too tired to make a save on that one :sarcasm:

The thing that made quick the best was his ability to make saves he shouldnt have. Probably none of the st louis goals were his fault. But when hes at his best he makes saves to bail his team out

So let's break this down:

One of the most competitive professional athletes ever to don an NHL uniform is going to retire soon and give up $16 million dollars in salary at 33 years old, despite winning back to back games this week as the teams #1 goalie with .942 save percentage because you have a feeling? And you believe they will waive a two time cup champ and place him in the AHL when he still shows signs he can play? There is zero evidence he is injured in any way shape or form for him to go on LTIR. You can't just place a player on LTIR because you feel like it. They will not waive Jonathan Quick, and they will not put the AHL franchise in the hands of Kehler and Villalta this season unless they have too (one of the big three goalies is injured). So essentially you believe that Quick has no value whatsoever any longer after 5 games this season. Why don't we wait until the trade deadline to make a decision and see how the season goes. While we all agree he got off to a horrible start (as did the team defense), it would be horrendous asset management to waive any LA Kings goaltender at this point. Apologies, rant over.

This doesn't change anything, but to be accurate, he is owed $9M in cash after this season.

- First goal wasn't as bad as the others, but he may have had a chance to get over if he played tighter to the post.
- 2nd goal, he was overaggressive in challenging the shooter and was out of position when the puck went to Pietrangelo (overcompensated).
- 4th goal, he was far too aggressive in challenging Parayko despite being a man down and there being a lack of coverage against cross ice passes (Schwartz was wide open). Then had to push off hard to challenge Schwartz, leaving himself no chance to get to Schenn at the far post.

If he wasdeeper in the net, he'd have a chance to stop all of these goals, but that's not how he plays and at 33, he's not going to fundamentally relearn his position.

1st goal, he was already on the post. And Doughty's skate held him up getting to the other site? Play tighter? Be more athletic getting around your dman?

2nd goal, play deeper, so it's still going to the top shelf, which also beat him near side. He wasn't out of position. And if he had played deeper, it would have given Peron a better angle for a shot. Let Peron shoot?

4th goal.....I see a motif here, you prefer to have goalies play deep in their net like Lundqvist (or like Hellebuyck the game before, so deep you play behind the goal line) to let shooters in and take the shot. Why? That's not how goalies are taught to address shooters. You step forward, cut the angle down. If that forces a pass, then your defenseman should have the pass covered. If not, guess you're going across to hopefully make a lucky save.

It's not that I prefer one style over another, as long as it's effect. In Quick's case, it certainly is not anymore. The defense isn't going to prevent absolutely all puck movement, therefore goaltenders have to move laterally and they can't aggressively challenge every puck carrier. You can try to blame defense for every single cross ice scoring chance, but the fact is that the average NHL goalie is going to make those saves at a much higher rate.

Also... he couldn't do as much on the first goal but still, he got tangled up with Doughty because of his failed attempt to to cut off the cross crease pass with his right pad. On the second goal, it's difficult to see due to the camera angle on the broadcast, but he'd have had an easier time getting square to the shot if he respected the wide open trailer.

The Kings don't have a Quick problem. They are in the middle of a transition year/years and his veteran presence is going to be extremely valuable as so many fresh faces are brought in. Over the next couple of seasons, one of Petersen or Campbell will take over starting duties and the other will be moved, while Quick holds down the fort as a backup. The Kings have no need for cap space over the duration of Quick's contract , so there are no issues with having that cap as a backup.

By the Way, Petersen is 4-1-1 in Ontario with a GAA of 2.43 and a save % of .936. The last thing we should be doing right now is bring him up here given the state of our defense. His development in Ontario is working and, frankly, he's playing with a lot of his future NHL teammates.

Only trouble with this is that by the time Quick was the age Petersen is now he had already been the starter in LA for two (arguably three) years. At the rate things are going our "goalie of the future" is only gonna have a 5-6 year future here.

for some reason people stopped understanding after 2014 that goalies CAN make saves that they have no business making

everything is everyone's fault except Quick

this is a very bizarre argument i find

and if a career backup / reclamation project (ie Campbell) fails to make key saves, they use it as evidence that Quick shouldn't be blamed for his piss poor 4.39GAA & .854% even if Campbell STILL manages to post better figures despite all this

but like i said before; giving it time, everything's eventual

It’s really just more that people want to hold Quick to a standard they won’t hold Campbell to, and that while Quick didn’t steal the game vs. the Blues, he didn’t lose it,either.

This team will eventually need more but the “lol quick sucks because sv %” analysis is vapid, especially with respect to the STL game.

Its depressing when your favorite band has moved on to the county fair circuit.
