The Hurricanes have now played more NHL seasons in North Carolina than in Connecticut

One thing I will say is that the red and black look is boring and was copied from the Devils.

It's been 19 years, maybe next year the 'Canes should change their look dramatically for the 20th season of play in NC.

Copied the Devils? Never heard that one before.

The Hurricanes share an arena and a very close working relationship with NC State University.

It's pretty easy to see why they chose their color scheme.

Then the Devils black and red look was copied from the Blackhawks. Two can play at that game. What about the Senators? They've used black and red since their re-incarnation and in the early stages of the NHL. Maybe the Devils copied them too.

Or maybe you can't really copy colours.

18 in Hartford, this season is the 19th in Greensboro//Raleigh. Not always as much success as our fans would like, but there have been a few deep runs, a cup, and the team looks to be on the up & up talent and prospect wise.

It hasn't always been easy (especially the Greensboro years), but I think the market and fans have proven viable, and the longevity has spoken for itself.

Here's to many, many more year's of Hurricanes hockey in this great State

well considering they actually started playing in Hartford back in 1974, I would say they still have a few more seasons to go before they have played more years in Carolina!

As a Carolina team, the 'Canes have shared a division with Washington longer than any other Metro team (or Eastern team for that matter) - if Washington isn't Carolina's biggest rival I don't know who is.

We don't really have one since playoffs is where rivalries mostly ignite and we haven't made it in 7 years. The last one we had was probably the Devils in the 2000s.

Strangely enough, there were rumors way back when in 1997 when the move was announced that the colors would be teal, after the nearby Charlotte Hornets and league opponent SJ Sharks had popularized the color, but Peter Karmanos straight up said that teal would not be in the scheme.

I moved to North Carolina from Connecticut. 10 years later the team I've followed since the WHA days followed me south. My friends in CT give me lots of grief for being a fan. I tell them I'm loyal to the franchise and not to the city of Hartford. I'll usually follow that up by telling them that they quit on the team and post a picture of Karmanos lifting the cup. Go Canes! :yo:

Ouch:laugh:

I side with you, unless the team moving went to Quebec yuck.

Okay, I guess we can finally forgive you for taking the team that was going to be ours and leaving us with an expansion dud. ;)
