If I have to watch Voracek take even one shootout this year I'm gonna ****ing lose it. I'm gonna ****ing lose it. /s

Being that Jake is the best... and one of only a couple Flyers somewhat decent in the SO... I can only assume this to be Sarcasm without an Emoji.

... Or maybe you just hate to observe his ShootStyle and celebration.

Question... Is their anywhere/anyone that/who tracks who the best first shooter, 2nd, 3rd, etc? Who was most often our 1st shooter? Just curious if someone is doing advanced shootout stats or something?

@bennysflyers16 did an in-depth scientific study of this and his algorithms determined that Jake is our most hesitant and worst shooter in every situation, including the shootout.

While I detest the Skills Competition to determine a Winner, IMO it is better to lose in a SO against Conference Teams than to lose in 4X4... Standingswise, with ROW IN the balance... With NonConference Teams, I'd rather be spared suffering through the SO... and just go all out in the 4X4 to get that extra Point then and there.

I personally Love the 4X4 but am one of those who can live with splitting two Points with a Tie if no Winner is determined after it... IMO the Loser Point has hurt the NHL.

Hmm,

a) you do realize I'm being facetious, yes?
2) the shoot out has since moved from 4*4 to 3*3, this isn't news to you, no?

Yeah, I remember those.
Very effective. Nothing a goalie can prepare for or hold out.

Here's the strategy: Gostisbehere goes first, brings the puck to just above the hashmarks and fires as hard a shot as he can at the goalie's neck / face / upper rib cage. The ensuing shooters should be able to score at will, assuming they can lift the puck over the yellow puddle in the crease.

I forget what you were responding to in the Post I quoted from you... I assume it was you rather lose in OT than in a SO... but yeah, I figured that you were being such. I was just pretty much was discussing... for discussion sake... how the Conference Standings comes into play with ROW Points now in the mix.

...I was in no way arguing with you over your stance in that Post.

As to being aware of the change to 3x3... yes, I'm well aware of the change and personally love it... I merely misspoke -- mistyped? -- in the heat of the moment... those sort of things have been known to occur in Forums, when one doesn't bother proofread one's Post. Haha

There is nothing but love here. The season hasn't started yet, all the drinking is for fun at the moment. And yes, I was being an asshat before with the 3*3, it is pretty awesome, except when Hakstock finds a way to f*** it up.

Gosh, this makes me miss John LeClair something fierce. That guy would come down on the wing and just over power guys. How awesome would it be to see him start at the dot, casual skate to the board and then just sprint down the left side and rip one? #nostalgia

Ya know what was worse than the shootout? Ties. I absolutely hated ties and whatever needed to be done to ban thier existence from the sport i will accept. I think a large portion of my dislike of the shootout is that the flyers have never been very good at it. It also sort of trivializes one pf the rarest plays in the sport the penalty shot. I completely see a penalty shot specialist becoming the new goon. A player who you can't trust for more than miniscule minutes in a game but who has a certain skillset that may or may not be valuable on a given night

NHL people don’t care enough to employ someone with the sole purpose of the shootout nor should they.

If you have a good goalie in shootouts odds are your team is going to be pretty good at them.

Provorov didn't take any. Last year was:

Voracek 3/8
Weal 2/7
Couturier 1/4
Patrick 1/4
Giroux 0/6
Konecny 0/4
Gostisbehere 0/1
Raffl 0/1
Simmonds 0/1

2016-17 was:

Weal 2/3
Voracek 5/11
Giroux 4/12
Gostisbehere 1/3
Simmonds 1/3
Cousins 0/6
Konecny 0/3
Schenn 0/2
Read 0/1
Couturier 0/1
Lyubimov 0/1

If Weal's in the lineup, he should be in the shootout. That's one thing I think Hakstol did right last year.

Voracek 1/1
Weal 1/1
Giroux 0/1

Didn't Edmonton employ a guy because he was a shootout specialist? I can't recall the name. What an Edmonton move that would be.

Linus Omark?

That might be it. Wasn't he essentially a shootout guy?

On the subject of dedicated shootout players, anything that isn't a goalie is about the least efficient use of cap space possible. Even goalies all on their own can get dicey with cap efficiency, since their position tends to be as one dimensional as it gets.

Jake lost his SO mojo about the same time G finally got his back, and Couturier found his for the first time.

NHL.com Stats

TK broke his goose egg this year. JVR is 0/4 as a 2nd time Flyer.
