All I know is if I have to see a bunch more shootouts this season where Giroux doesnt even get a shot I am gonna lose it.
I like that top 4 Bernie. Giroux should be the first or second shooter.

Did Provorov have a good season in the shootout last year? I honestly don't remember but I think there was someone unexpected that did well, no?

Since it is the dog days of no-hockey, let's talk about what the 2018-19 Flyers shootout line-up should look like. I would like to see Giroux, Patrick, Voracek, Konecny as top 4.

JVR has been really good in the shootouts as well. I'd have him before Konecny.

G has had a rough go at shootouts recently. He went 0 for 6 last year and 4 for 12 the previous year. I still think he needs to be one of your top shooters though.

Of course Schenn went 3 for 3 last year too...

I think its like anything. If you are struggling with something you have a tendency to grip that stick a little tighter and over think the move. Might be the case with Giroux the last couple of seasons.

Provorov didn't take any. Last year was:

Voracek 3/8
Weal 2/7
Couturier 1/4
Patrick 1/4
Giroux 0/6
Konecny 0/4
Gostisbehere 0/1
Raffl 0/1
Simmonds 0/1

2016-17 was:

Weal 2/3
Voracek 5/11
Giroux 4/12
Gostisbehere 1/3
Simmonds 1/3
Cousins 0/6
Konecny 0/3
Schenn 0/2
Read 0/1
Couturier 0/1
Lyubimov 0/1

If Weal's in the lineup, he should be in the shootout. That's one thing I think Hakstol did right last year.

JVR has been really good in the shootouts as well. I'd have him before Konecny.

So this is a tricky question to answer. He was 7/11 in 2013-14, but then a combined 1/11 the last 4 years. I won't pretend to have seen them all to have a real opinion.

Hmm maybe I was thinking about Weal I don't know. Surprised they didn't use Ghost more and surprised G was 0/6. G should rebound he's been decent throughout his career. G-Voracek-Patrick is where I would go.

I’d want Weal, Coots, Jake, and Giroux in that order. I have nothing to back me up on it but I feel that Giroux would do better with more pressure on him.

I'd just rather lose in OT. Is that self-defeatist? Oh hell YEAH! But the shootout is garbage, and the only thing worse is the Flyers' record in games determined by the shootout.

Win in Regulation, or lose in OT. I really really miss tie games.

Giroux, JVR, Patrick, Voracek, Konecny

JVR only scored seven shootout goals in his six years in Toronto.

Giroux - 14/53 (26.4%)
JVR - 7/25 (28%)
Patrick - 1/5 (20%)
Voracek - 14/37 (37.8%)
Konecny - 0/7 (0%)

I stand corrected. Still better than TK though

TK needs to slow his attempts down and work on ways to deceive the goalie. He usually skates in, picks a spot, and takes a shot. Not gonna work too often on the best goalies in the world.

Shootouts should be banned. One of the most 'unhockey spirited' changes introduced into the game. Don't care who shoots and who wins or loses. It's tainted hockey. At worst to end ties it should be 4 on 4, then 3 on 3 and if necessary let the goalies fight it out at center ice.

Woosified modern NHL nonsense.

Bunch of pansies turned the game into something for the infinitesimal attention span of millennials (who are way too invested trying to get finger sprains from their phones).

While I detest the Skills Competition to determine a Winner, IMO it is better to lose in a SO against Conference Teams than to lose in 4X4... Standingswise, with ROW IN the balance... With NonConference Teams, I'd rather be spared suffering through the SO... and just go all out in the 4X4 to get that extra Point then and there.

I personally Love the 4X4 but am one of those who can live with splitting two Points with a Tie if no Winner is determined after it... IMO the Loser Point has hurt the NHL.
