Tonight marked the 4th straight time they have been shutout in a road game against the Kings.

All 2-0 scores.

And when you consider the last game they did score against them was in Germany (October 2011), the last time Buffalo scored a goal vs. the LA Kings in STAPLES Center was........

January 21, 2010

Go ahead, look up the last time the Atlanta Thrashers scored a goal at the Staples Center.

It's more recent than January 21, 2010.

Now THAT'S an epic losing record.
I mean, Calgary owns a pretty bad one too to Anaheim, but still. Can't even score? How improbable is that?

12 straight periods of getting shut out is pretty hard to do. You'd think they'd get a bounce off someone's leg or something by now.

Stats like these never really blow my mind. The Sabres were mostly a terrible rebuilding team during that stretch and the Kings won 2 cups during that stretch.

It happens. I know it sounds "impressive" when people say "team x hasn't scored since 1857 in City F against team y when Goalie Z is playing" but then when you dig deeper you find out that that team hasn't even played more than a handful of games within the last decade at that exact place which increases the chances of such a thing happening.

Shutouts are hard. This stat is pretty cool

The Sabres have only played 9 games total at the Staples Center and won a whopping 1 game there. If you lose 8 out of 9 games, chances are that it's likely that you have lost these games due to your inability to score goals.

It's an obscure stat and simply only impressive if you don't see the whole picture.

Here let's make up another obscure stat which is factually true but overall unimpressive if you know the whole picture.

Since 1999 the Sabres have only won ONE game at Staples center!!!!

Here is another one:

The Sabres have NOT won a match at Staples since 2003, which is almost FOURTEEN years!

Impressive, right?

Of course, the Sabres have been rebuilding - and even full tank - for most of those years, but even then... That's astonishing.

Still, all shutouts is pretty impressive/sad depending which side you're on.
