Pitch up is always pull back. If it is manipulating a camera, then up is always up. Since I am not depending on the selection to control the pitch of my character, it would follow that I would use a different technique. If we are talking about planar movements (forward), then using inverted is just lunacy. That's not even old-school. That's just lunacy.

That said, I haven't really tried playing a shooter on a console since Turok 64.

First thing I do in any game I'm playing is to invert the Y axis. No idea why. Other people have mentioned Goldeneye and that was my first shooting experience so that might be it.

inverted 100% of the time, but I mostly play 3rd person games.
