Well, 30 is still a bull**** number. Players plateau at what, 23/24?
I understand it, but the foundation driving the argument for most people is hilariously wrong.
The foundation is money. That’s what it comes down to. In a cap era, you need inexpensive talent to balance a roster. You can't afford Girardi/Staal contracts, so after being burned on those type of deals, every player closing in on 30 years old and free agency runs the risk of being the next bad contract.
