Here is the WAY too early thread for the 2024 World Juniors in Gothenburg, aka Göteborg - a city I have actually visited and LOVED.

The Athletic has their early World Juniors roster predictions for US, Canada, Sweden, and Finland. A few Sabres are on the list.

Based on those headshots, are we sure Trey Augustine isn't actually team USA's accountant?

For those of us who try to be hockey fans regardless of the hapless product the NHL puts on the ice in Buffalo, the U20's are fast approaching.

Matt Savoie (Canada) and Maxim Strbak (Slovakia) appear to be locks, health willing, for their respective squads. Benson of course is still a speculative piece for Canada and we don't know if Kulich will be allowed to go to play for the Czech team.

Ostlund and Wahlberg for Sweden I would hope? Leinonen for Finland?

Ostlund and Wahlberg should be 2/3rds of the Swede's top line.

Not sure about Leinonen, he's just back to playing in the last few weeks and it... hasn't been pretty.

Östlund & Wahlberg is on the swedish roster as expected. Noah is dealing with a concussion right now, but should be ready to the tournament.

I'm still surprised Eisermann was left off the USA World Juniors Team.
My understanding is that as a pure goal-scorer without a well-rounded game, the only spot for him would be top-6 winger. The team has plenty of options there with older, more experienced players, so he just doesn't fit.

He's a lock for next year's team I would think.

Looking for big things from Savoie and Kulich individually. Strbak to a lesser extent.

Although I'd never count Canada out, no matter how depleted or weak their team is relative to most years, USA looks like a juggernaut and a strong Swedish team is playing on home ice.

I look forward to this tourney every year. Some of the most dramatic hockey we'll see all season, guaranteed.

Any Sabres fans out there who don't typically watch the WJC, please do yourselves a favor and tune in. Full refund if you're not satisfied!
