The preseason has begun and now you've had the chance to watch a bunch of our top prospects in game 1, with more prospects on display tomorrow. Now is the time to get back to ranking our prospects so we could finish the list by mid to late October.

We lost 10 prospects to graduation and trades: Duclair, Hayes, Fast, Allen, Haggerty, Nejezchleb, Walcott, Kristo, Bodie and Missiaen.

We acquired Magnus Hellberg and drafted 7 guys: Gropp, Kovacs, Zborovskiy, Saarela, Morrison, Bernhardt and Huska.

We will vote for the top 25 prospects. The next 5 (those who make it into the poll, but won't actual win a place in the top-25) will be Honorable Mentions. The final 4 prospects will be listed in alphabetical order as "Rangers Property."

THE RULES

WHO IS A PROSPECT: We can't all have different standards based on what we each want personally. We are on the HF board, so let's follow their rules. The standard for what's a prospect is here: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/whatmakesaprospect

* Please don't write that so-and-so should or should not be a prospect. It's not up to each individual here to decide, it's up to the HF rules. Every poll we have people who think they get to decide the rules. If you don't like the rules, go to another web site because here we use HF rules.

HOW TO RANK PROSPECTS: Based on their value in a hypothetical trade or waiver draft. This takes into consideration a prospect's ceiling, how close he's to making it, his health, work ethic, the whole deal. Imagine there was a prospect waiver draft and you could keep only one prospect. That guy is our #1 prospect. Then imagine we had one more waiver protection. That guy is our #2 prospect.

CATEGORIES: We'll be ranking the top 30 prospects.

- The top 10 will be "Top Prospects"
- The second 10 will be "Second-Tier"
- The third 5 will be "Projects & Suspects"
- The next 5 (those who won't make the top-25) will be "Honorable Mentions"
- The remaining 4 prospects will be listed as "Rangers Property"

The first 6 options in the poll are the top 6 prospects from the winter who haven't graduated.

Please write who you want added to the poll, and give a reason for it. This makes the discussion here more lively.

Add Nieves, I think he'll make the NHL based on his size and speed combination.

Between Tambellini and Gropp. At the moment they look like similar players. Gropp was drafted about where he should have been in one of the best drafts ever. Even so I decided on Tambellini primarily for the reason he's turning pro and closer to making it. Now Tambellini needs to make that jump to the AHL look good or........

Anyway add Tambellini.

curious how much McI is going to move up the rankings after tonight!

I think he really helped his stock tonight. Just a massive upgrade over his incompetence in his last NHL game.
