I'd question him over the non-pull after #4 more so than not using the timeout. It was clear to me after goal 4 Holtby's mental game was done.

Yeah I agree. He even mentioned it himself but wanted to give Holtby a chance to fight through it since there were a couple tough bounces.

But another thing...Grubauer had played the day before. That probably factored into Trotz mind as well.

That Bob Gould fight may be the best ever in caps history. I can recall many great "donnybrooks" but for some reason ;) that one always sticks out.

Todd Krygier and Bobby Carpenter deserve courtesy shoutouts for also getting him to blow a fuse.

Krygier whacked Lemieux in the face with his glove and Lemieux responded by tossing Krygier to the ice, punching him after pinning him. Pat Peake came to Krygier's aid and was also kicked out of the game for being the third man in. Other Penalties: Lemieux received a slashing, instigator and game misconduct. Pat Peake a roughing and game misconduct. Todd Krygier did not receive a fighting major.

The team got knocked off their game because its the same old story with the Penguins some dirty POS does something and referee pretends he never saw it, but we got Wilson and Ovechkin getting multiple illegal hits to the head penalties every damn year for hitting someone too hard.

Its hard not to be knocked off your game when this sort of stuff happens repeatedly and the league will never hold them accountable.

Except other organizations figure it out, hence the Pens not winning the cup every year.

Disagree.

Teams almost never do this anymore b/c it will cost them a challenge.

Which infact Trotz needed! That 6th Pitt goal was challenged and should have been overturned.

Could you imagine if we didn't have a TO to challenge that or something else that could occur?

It's no longer prudent to use a timeout in this fashion. In hindsight he probably should have pulled Holtby after the 4th goal and he said as much when interviewed. So if anything you can point to that.

But his team still fought back from 2 separate 2 goal deficits despite a staggering series of bad calls/lack of calls that went against them and led directly to the last 3 Pens goals (and perhaps goals 2 and 3 on the 4 on 4 due to missed headshot on Oshie)

Goalie change can act as a timeout, if you get 3 goals scored on you in 3 minutes might as well pull the damn goalie and have him take his time.
