Rooting for the guy.

I'm a little worried he might be out of the league sooner rather than later, unless he finds his old possession-driving game. Not this soft shit from last year.

He was off last season. Don't know why. But yes generally he plays motivated, wants the puck and is a puck hound. Wings fans seem a bit down on him now but not long ago he was a fan favorite. See no reason why he can't get back to being that player.

Ya, I even asked my friend what happened to him this year and he was clueless... and he is a pretty big fan
I mean tatar has 27 yo, he is still young and I woulnd understand why Tatar can't redo 50p+

I've always liked Tatar's grit and willingness to battle for the puck, but I thought it might cut his career short. Maybe the shoulder surgery has influenced his game.

Are wings fans positive on how well he will play ?
I don't mind if he scores 15 goals, but I really want him to show some motivation and work hard on the fore check

i think pavels dog got it right. he was traded last yr, performed poorly. was regular healthy scratch and then traded again, he should be motivated just based on that.

I don't think Gallant was too keen on having Tatar. GMGM saw an opportunity to get an upgraded Neal replacement that his coach will play. Vegas can still afford the price.

That Schmidt suspension could make things harder, but cmon

Neal+Perron vs. Stastny+Pacioretty

They are much stronger than last year.

There were multiple players on that team that played well above what was expected, notably Karlsson. I just don't see them replicating that. If they do, they should empty the vaults to pay Gallant what he wants.

And there comes the extension for Pacioretty.

4 years, per 7M.

A bit overpaid if you go by the 10:1 rule, especially since as far as I know he doesnt do much else, but not bad.

I think his tenure in Vegas was an anomaly. He joined a team that had a somewhat unique system (which he was not at all acclimated to) and had no time to really adapt. Starting fresh in Montreal means he will at least be somewhat productive. The only way I see him going back to Europe is if the pay is better there, which means he is a bottom sixer. I don't see him as a bottom-sixer just yet.

On paper they might be (depends if they get 30 goal or 17 goal Patches) but I also wouldnt be surprised if they missed playoffs. Almost every single guy on that team had career years last year. Is William Karlsson going to have a hart calibre season again? Will Fleury play like that again (hes always been inconsistent)? Rielly Smith pushing a point per game again could definitely never happen again, same with Marchessault. Even if a guy like Marschessault has another similar season, I find it hard to believe that all those guys will repeat the year they had, and from what I remember they were pretty lucky injury wise.

I would probably bet on Karlsson scoring less than 25 before I bet on him hitting above 35 again. The most hes scored in the last 5 years is 15 and that was 5 years ago in the SHL, he hasnt broke double digits once besides that. I'm not syaing its a for sure that they go down hill and miss playoffs, but I could also see a lot of guys coming back down to earth and it happening

Didn't Karlsson shoot close to 30% last year? Gotta believe that comes down quite a bit. 25 goals seems reasonable.

Better to overpay a bit in dollars and get fantastic term. A long term deal at 1m less pet year would of been brutal soon.

So it would have been to overpay for Abdelkader, when there's no cap space..?
Wait, so they can always find cap space if they need to sign an important player, but the logic for giving a role player a 7 year extension, six months in advance was...they might not have had cap space otherwise?
