Seems like a terrible trade by Vegas to me. I guess they completely gave up on Tatar and think Patches can make them a contender again... I disagree with both of those evaluations and think Suzuki was too high of a price.

I think Vegas has a lot of players in the "prime age". Once knowing their team is competitive. I think collecting more players in the 25-30 age is a good move. I like this move for Vegas.

Yes they paid too much for Tatar (to our benefit).

But they are adapting quickly, and removing Tatar and some more to get a much better player in return.

I do not see many people saying Suzuki and or Glass were going to make the Knights this season, that is because the Knights have a solid team of young-ish veterans... They are actually built to compete now IMO.

So basically they gave up Veleno, Suzuki two 2nds and a 3rd for Max? We need to get on the phone with McPhee again. And then call Bergevin for something else lol.

It is an ok trade if Pacioretty will extend. And I think he will.

Tatar was a mistake from GMGM, never could replace James Neal, but now Pacioretty is probably the best player of the group. They have a lot of cap space to extend him.

Imo, getting the best player is always a good hockey trade. It's nice to have some buyers in the league. Activates the market if everybody just stands pat.

Yep. It's a non-ice value which a real contender can throw away to strengthen the team.

I just can't view them as a Cup contender even with making the finals last year. Time will tell, but I wouldn't be shocked if they missed the playoffs this year. I think they'll regret this trade down the road.

Per CapFriendly:

Fun Fact: At the Expansion Draft, Columbus traded a 2017 1st (which they used to draft Nick Suzuki), a 2019 2nd, & David Clarkson, for Vegas to draft William Karlsson. VGK now trades 2 of the pieces received in that side trade with CBJ (Suzuki & 2019 2nd) to MTL for Pacioretty.
____________________________________________________________________
...so CBJ lost Karlsson, CapDumped Clarkson & added '17 1st, '19 2nd, they're the other loser in this.

I’m a fan of Suzuki, I think he has huge upside. Hopefully they don’t ruin him like they did Galchenyuk.

That Schmidt suspension could make things harder, but cmon

Neal+Perron vs. Stastny+Pacioretty

They are much stronger than last year.

I actually like the move for both teams. Montreal gave him to the west for a good return imo (Player,Prospcet, top 50 pick) and Vegas added a good veteran scorer to make a real run again or at least remain playoff competitive till the end.

if he can get back to the level he was from '14 to '16, yes.

though the issues is that earlier on in his career he wasn't just a pure scorer, he drived possession pretty well. but that aspect disappeared last season quite a bit.

Are wings fans positive on how well he will play ?
I don't mind if he scores 15 goals, but I really want him to show some motivation and work hard on the fore check

I read that Vegas also retained 1mil, so tatars cap hit is 4.8mil.

He was off last season. Don't know why. But yes generally he plays motivated, wants the puck and is a puck hound. Wings fans seem a bit down on him now but not long ago he was a fan favorite. See no reason why he can't get back to being that player.
