Worst case he'll turn out to be MAB 2.0. A playoff specialist with a good shot and crisp passing. Best case he's a reliable defenseman with great offensive upside capable of playing 2nd pairing minutes. Still quite some time left for him to develop into the latter.

MAB had a bomb of a shot, wish Nesterov had that. Nesterov is looking to be better then him, if he can be a bottom pair guy who you can shelter defensively and put up 30 points then I'll be happy.

nesterov think can be top four guy he will work hard on both sides not sure how much offensive upside he has doesnt have but can skate has a high hockey iq he wont be top four with us but very reliable four and mab was never that imho he was a power play specialist over anything else

think nestea is true d man all around good nothing great why hedman and slater will wind up ahead of him long term but as our five or six in a couple years we are going to love nestea imho just dont see a huge upside know will do work know will make good decisions and some great things at times we had some glimpses last year imho but hedman and koekkoek are on other levels or will be and nestea will be close in ways just they will be better

While MAB had the shot Nesterov has him beat in creativity / IQ IMO. Still too early to tell, one had several good seasons in the NHL while the other has looked okay in a limited role in 5-on-5 situations and above-average on the PP (for a rookie). Nesty took a huge step forward in his development this season though (from fringe AHLer to AHL All Star to playing 44 NHL games with solid offensive contributions while beating out guys like Barbeiro on the depth chart) so he's got that going for him too. Next season is going to be exciting.

Stephens should really be there...even above Point honestly. Captain of the Canadian U18 National Team in which he played on the first line - 10 points in 7 games. Kid doesn't get enough love around here...he'll turn you guys into fans soon I bet. He doesn't have the gaudy points totals people love...but he brings much more. Between Stephens and Point...would dare to say Point is only ahead in finishing touch/shot around the net.
