BC & BU should go to the Frozen Four. Minnesota (Kurth) has a chance to disrupt things. Interested to see how the Michigan/North Dakota, Michigan State/Western Michigan regional will turn out.

Didn't realize until now that Eamon Powell grew up 30 mins outside of Syracuse, so that and our Crunch affiliation alone might mean he's more likely to sign with the Lightning, so then he can play at home.

I'm assuming Webster won't be offered an ELC and will just sign an AHL deal with a random team
Signing with Syracuse still might be his best bet. His NHL rights still don't expire until the off season, and TB are the most invested in him.

Syracuse are also at the top of their division.

Powell (BC), Howard (MSU), and Duke (Michigan) today.

UFA Collin Graf (Quinnipiac) is going to have a tough time this weekend. They have to get past Wisconsin and probably Boston College.

Ike Howard in a tough spot right now.

Michigan State is the 4th ranked team in the NCAA. Western Michigan is 13th.

Orlando seems to be lacking clutch ability/killer instinct.

OSB doesn't have someone designated as captain, but the letter itself I'm not overly concerned with.

Darik Angeli joined the team late, so he may not feel that he's completely part of the leadership group, but he's a decent playoff performer, and he won the Kelly Cup in 2022.

We need our older guys, who have played in actually meaningful games, to be *the guy*, and bring everyone else along.

edit: the recent game where they came back in the 3rd doesn't count. That was pulling a win out of the jaws of defeat. There was no pressure.

Crunch fall 6-4 to Lehigh Valley

- Hugo got pulled 10 minutes in after giving up 2 goals on 5 shots
- 2 goals for Koepke. He has 19 goals in 50 games, 1 less than his career high from his 2022 rookie year (20 goals in 69 games)
- Fortier scores his 12th. He's 2 goals off his career high of 14 from 2022
- Edmonds scores his 8th. He has 5 goals, 9 points in his last 12 games

OT game winner for Roelens in Game 1 of the playoffs

1 goal + 3 assists for Ethan Gauthier in Game 1

Duke looked better than Howard in their games as well as UM looked better than MSU. Should be a good rematch tomorrow.
Duke is a year older and has been through this twice prior with great Michigan teams. Howard hasn't played in an NCAA Tournament before. Howard was all or nothing last night, either creating offensive chances or losing puck battles/turning it over for Western Michigan O-zone time. He'll learn, but State got away with one yesterday with Augustine being poor and their lineup looking off for most of the night. Should be a great one between two huge rivals who have never faced each other in the NCAA Tournament

Huuhtanen's season ends as Jukurit are eliminated in game 6. He didn't have a great postseason production wise with only two assists but he did make a lot of people mad with his antics.

So when does he come to America? Inquiring minds want to know.

Maybe @Felonious Python can answer this.

There were some rumors of Swedish and Swiss teams being after him, which doesn't make any sense to me. We should get him over to Syracuse next season. His skating is really the only thing holding him back from becoming an NHL player and we should start getting him used to the speed of North American hockey.

I don't really know, offhand. It's not been super common for Europeans to finish the year out in NA. There are possible immigration complications involved. The two guys I can think of coming from Sweden lately weren't try-outs. They're listed as being reassigned from their Swedish team, to the AHL, by the NHL team. (Anton Wahlberg and Jonathan Lekkerimaki). Both of those guys were signed in the summer of 2023, and Huuhtanen doesn't have an NHL deal yet.

At a certain point, too many rookie additions become a weakness. Orlando is maybe going through this now. Orlando has 4 forwards and one goalie on the roster who have turned pro in the past month or so (not that they're all playing the same games). We had another call-up today, so we're down to one RHD.

The simplest solution would be to sign a college guy, but we need RHDs for things like the penalty kill. They'd ideally be able to step right in.

USports has guys with ECHL experience, and the better NCAA teams have guys with big game experience. Ideally, we get a guy from like UNB who has both. (edit: just checked. UNB is out of stock, although Bailey Webster with St.FX checks a lot of boxes)
