Great job you did looking at the stat sheet....he was clearly a key cog to their victory. Get over it Tanev haters, he's here to stay and deservedly so. I would prefer to see him on a 4th line, but he's certainly full marks up to now.
Actually I was at the game and I don't hate Tanev. Not sure about being a key cog but I agree that he deserves to be in the starting lineup. Maybe I'm pissed off that I feel like Armia is ready to break out and he played a little over 5 minutes 5vs5 while Tanev played a little over 13 minutes 5v5 although that's not Tanevs fault.

I really think the only thing keeping this team back from being a serious contender is special teams. If we could bring in a special teams specialist on the bench it would make us an intimidating presence.

Also zone exits and zone entries are awful. I dare you to watch a Habs game sometime - worse D (especially in terms of puck movement under pressure) and worse forwards across the board, but they transition so much more smoothly because they have an actual system and they adjust as needed. The Jets get killed in the neutral zone every game because Maurice is an awful coach. It's not an issue of individual skill at all.

yes and to make matters even worse for this team, lowry doesn't score at a 3rd line centres pace because playing him and his line against other teams top lines is no excuse. they need to score to contribute to the teams success.

You should see how many goals Couturier scored going against the other teams best with medium caliber linemates season after season.

Somewhere nice
The last minutes of o.t wheeler was so gassed out but he found that will for that burst of speed to create a scoring chance.

When he was lying on the ice he was exhausted.

Great to see the capt all in.

Engaged Buff is also a great buff.
Little is finding his groove now.

Right wing is pretty much lock now

With
Wheeler laine armia and tanev.

Center

Only the 4th line is iffy

Lw also 4th line is iffy but it should be copp

Tanev would have gotten that many minutes due to his line taking on Philly's top line. CSW weren't doing the best job of shutting them down or getting anything going so pomo switched it up.

How many (legit) 3c scores 15 goals? And playing tough minutes.
Also lowry is a load to handle that takes a toll on the D.

I think everyone here would be happy with a 3rd line C scoring 15 goals year after year. Would be nice if he (Lowry) could add 15 assists to that as well; and you never know.

As much as I think Tanev has improved and that I like his game, I'd still prefer him on the 4th line, as opposed to the 3rd.

Just a little bit of what I observed last night.

Half way through the second period, I thought, “what a quiet crowd. This is boring. They need something to get the crowd going, and I don’t mean Mickey Moose”. I thought they needed someone to start a fight. Lots of orange shirt fans were quiet too.

Then Laine threw a pretty good check on the offensive zone. Then Byfuglien knocks down a Flyers guy and Connor with one hit. Spins around and just misses another Flyers guy. He let up, knocking himself and Scheifele down. Flyers ends up with the puck and created a scoring chance 2 on 2 with Wheeler backing up Byfuglien.

Last year, this might have been a goal for the Flyers and Byfuglien would have been blasted here. This year, people cheered and were appreciative of the effort. They showed byfuglien on the score board after the play, and the crowd got louder, it was great. You can tell, he was curious about the cheer and so he looks up, sees his face and gives a little smile.

A few minutes later, byfuglien knocks another Flyers guy down, causing a faceoff in the dzone while on the PP. Bad decision by Flyers to press while SH, leads to Jets goal to begin the comeback win.

If Jets had given up a 2 goal lead and lost in SO the thread would be titled something like "Jets blow lead...." etc.

I ****in hate it people looking at a stat sheet and judging how someone or a line has played based on it... That game changed as soon as Lowry/Coop/Tanev was matched vs the Giroux line.

Best thing to do is to combine both because a person’s eye test can prove wrong where stats are actual factual information. You just have to know how to use those stats to make the most of them.

And yeh that game started to turn when those three got in hard on the forecheck. This is why i think putting a guy like Perreault or Connor with Lowry on that line could do wonders for the team as a whole.
