Yeah guess Parayko is a middling 2nd pairing D then if Nurse is a high-end #1.

he did, but Jbo/Parayko got the 1st line matchups

this is not to say Pietro wasn't important, because obviously he was

Yep, Parayko literally shut down every top line in the playoffs. He and JBo were great. Parayko’s defense and exits are among the best in the NHL. His offense has room for growth, and I think we’ll see it this year.

Yeah and Pietrangelo was the second best defenseman on the Blues during that run.
That’s a legit argument but there’s a whole season of good play to put yourself in that position in the first place. Parayko hasn’t taken the ball from Petriangelo and truly filled that role to the level Petriangelo did. He hasn’t shown he can be the guy on a good nhl team year after year.

Petriangelo existed

The point still stands.

Pietrangelo was a tire fire that year until Binnington took over in goal.

I'd prolly give him more than 1 yr to 'take the ball and run with it'... and maybe a yr where he wasn't hurt and then see where we're at

now, that being said, he might never be as good offensively as Pietro (dudes pretty good) but when healthy there can be an argument made that he's already as good defensively
