Cause she's the cheese and I'm the macaroni.
No dumbass you're thinking of Stephen A. Smith the loudmouth screaming host on ESPN's First Take show.
I had the chance to catch up with President and General Manager Don Waddell on Tuesday. Here's what he was able to say at the time about Steve Smith and his seemingly sudden resignation as assistant coach with the Hurricanes:
"We talked to Steve at development camp. He's felt that he might want to look around," Waddell explained. "He's been here four years and did a good job with our D. We felt we would give him that opportunity to explore, and he made the decision to leave us and explore other opportunities."
Not sure if this was posted before or not, but from Mike Smith's tweetmail.
Not much more insight as to why he wanted to move on, but sounds like this wasn't completely out of the blue for the Canes as they discussed it beforehand.
Could be a simple as he saw more opportunity for the big job there...Phil Housley isn't exactly tightly wedged into that job, so should things continue to stink in Buffalo, Steve Smith could find himself more readily in a head coaching position more quickly.I'm getting a Steve was the odd man out in meetings, vibe. Not one of TDDWs picks, and was treated a bit differently.
I have no basis for any of this, except TD seems to really like his picks.

Did the beastie boys just randomly appear?!Cause she's the cheese and I'm the macaroni.
Did the beastie boys just randomly appear?!
If so my faith in humanity is restored for one more day.
@rod My girlfriend is really really tired of me on hot days lately, cause I can’t stop with the Paul Revere.
“The sun is beating down upon my baseball haaaaat...”
I wonder if he thought he was maybe a candidate for the head coaching job here and maybe soured on the Canes a bit when it was given to Rod instead, even though Smith has some better credentials.
Steve Smith has had such an incredible career. From stud defenseman to Pro Bowl wide receiver to nationally recognized basketball analyst. How does he still have time to coach defensemen? Amazing.
