Much easier to predict who will be the key contributors. If you are the 13th forward you still play, and a goalie is a potential 4 pointer. I agree with the risk, but its still something to consider.
I understand you're getting burned on this one so far, but what didn't you get about my Soderstrom post? I had just mentioned about how unlikely he was to have gotten the start today, and look how quickly things have suddenly changed! The fact is that Georgiev could well come down with the flu or pull a groin in the next practice and be done for the tournament, paving the way for a glorious gold medal run by Samsonov. You just never know. It's the uncertainty about which goalies are starting that makes them so intriguing. Hell, I have Mason MacDonald as my guy! How tenuous is his grasp on the Canadian starter position at the moment? This is actually one of the things that makes this pool so fun, in my opinion.

Standings (After Day 3)

Rank | Team Name | Goals | Assists | Win Pts | SO Pts | Pool Points
1|Khabby|6|11|2|2| 21 |
2|Tade|6|7|2|0| 15 |
3|Statsy|4|8|2|0| 14 |
4|Canada4Gold|5|8|0|0| 13 |
5|WeThreeKings|2|4|4|2| 12 |
6|AwesomePanthers|5|4|0|0| 9 |
7|Huffman|3|6|0|0| 9 |
8|Tomsburninghat|2|4|0|0| 6 |

As predicted, Statsy with the big day as Canada finally found their scoring touch. The 10 points he picks up (also with the help of Puljujarvi), vaults him from last to third. Khabby retains his solid lead with a reasonably decent 6 point day, and Tade (backed by Patrik Laine's 3 points) with the second highest total of Day 3 of 7 points, remains within striking distance. Linus Soderstrom salvaged an otherwise tough day for WeThreeKings by posting a shutout victory, and seemingly solidifying his hold on Sweden's starter position. It was a bit of a dreadful day for Tomsburninghat, who was shutout of the scoring.

Here are all of today's totals:

Statsy - 10
Tade - 7
Canada4Gold - 7
Khabby - 6
WeThreeKings - 5
AwesomePanthers - 4
Huffman - 4
Tomsburninghat - 0

Scoring Correction - An assist has been moved from Brayden Point to Haydn Fleury from the Denmark game.

Standings (After Day 4)

Another light day on the tourney schedule, but there were still some teams that put up points. AwesomePanthers (who finally had his goalie, Samsonov, invited to the party) had the biggest day with five points. Statsy and Canada4Gold managed four points each, with C4G also picking up his first goalie points via the return from suspension of MacKenzie Blackwood, while Statsy gets a two assist effort from Lawson Crouse. Statsy and C4G remain in a tight race for second spot as they leapfrog Tade who only managed a single point today. He'll look to start capitalizing on a USA heavy team as they start to take on the weaker teams in the pool. Khabby picked up a pair of points from Maxim Lazarev to boost his pool leading total to 23. Huffman didn't pick up a point today, but look for his team to explode tomorrow as he has some nice team match-ups on the schedule.

Here are today's totals:

AwesomePanthers - 5
Statsy - 4
Canada4Gold - 4
Khabby - 2
WeThreeKings - 2
Tade - 1
Tomsburninghat - 1
Huffman - 0

Well Team Tomsburninghat has definitely had the musical chairs of a team this year but it is what it is and that is why I like the risks we take, who really knows. Canada's #1 player going into the tournament was Virtanen who at last count has...well you know how many points. :( The other thing I've seen in the last three years is one crazy day can change things drastically. Juniors can turn it on in one day, have 4 points and then nothing the rest of the tourney so don't lose hope. Says the guy staring up at the rest of the teams...

don't I know about that. 3 years ago I had Kuznetsov in a pool, and he didn't score anything in his first 2 games, then he got 9 points against Latvia and ended up leading the tournament in scoring with 13 points

Am I going to get at least 1 point for Nedeljkovic? He was changed for Halverson because USA game is terrible blowout.

1 pt for both Nedeljkovic and Halverson is fair, imo.

winning goalie is the one that was on for winning goal so that would be Nedeljkovic

Finally had a pretty good day. Could have been a fantastic day if Eriksson Ek & Forsbacka Karlsson hadn't been robbed over and over again by that Danish goalie.

Quite a day in the WJC! There were lots of big numbers put up on the board today, and that has given our pool lots of movement at the top. Tade exploded for 15 points, nearly doubling his pool total. He makes a massive leap from 4th to 1st, knocking Khabby out of top spot. Tade's US heavy lineup plus another three point effort from Patrik Laine did the damage for him today. Three others entrants also notched double digit gains with today's action. AwesomePanthers collected 10 points to move into 3rd, while Huffman and Tomsburninghat (Two teams that had struggled in the first few days), also pick up 10 points each to put them back in contention. C4G and Statsy had rough days with 5 and 4 points, respectively, thanks to a lot of their players sitting out the action on day 5.

Here's the day's movers and shakers:

Tade - 15
AwesomePanthers - 10
Huffman - 10
Tomsburninghat - 10
Khabby - 6
WeThreeKings - 6
Canada4Gold - 5
Statsy - 4

I'm actually calling for a Thomas Lillie shutout. Sure it's unlikely, but if it does happen, I'll look like a freaking genius!

1|Tade|13|19|4|0| 36 |

7|WeThreeKings|7|10|6|2| 25 |
8|Tomsburninghat|5|10|2|2| 19 |

We're now through the preliminary round. There wasn't a lot of movement in the standing today, though Khabby did pull back up to tie Tade at the top with 36 points. C4G had the biggest day in the pool with 8 points to draw a touch closer to AwesomePanthers who also did well with a 7 point day. Statsy and Tomsburninghat both struggled with 3 and 2 points, respectively. They'll need to get their game in gear in the medal round. There's a bit of a logjam at 25 points right now with 3 different teams having reached that mark after today's action.

Today's numbers:

Canada4Gold - 8
AwesomePanthers - 7
Khabby - 7
Huffman - 6
Tade - 5
WeThreeKings - 5
Statsy - 3
Tomsburninghat - 2

So here's an interesting fact about my team:

The next game will see a match-up of Finland and Canada, with one of those teams going home. My pool has one Finn and six Canadians. However, that one Finn has as many points as the six Canadians combined. :dunno:

Standings (After Day 8)

Rank | Team Name | Goals | Assists | Win Pts | SO Pts | Pool Points
1|Tade|17|25|6|2| 50 |
2|Khabby|12|29|4|2| 47 |
3|AwesomePanthers|17|19|2|0| 38 |

5|Huffman|14|17|4|0| 35 |
6|Canada4Gold|12|20|2|0| 34 |
7|Statsy|10|21|2|0| 33 |
8|Tomsburninghat|7|15|2|2| 26 |

It's another big day for Tade as he hits the half century mark, taking sole control of top spot. Khabby did also have a productive 11 point day to keep within striking range and WTK also got a nice jump, going from 7th to 4th, as he also collected 11 points. C4G had a rough one with only 4 points, but the title of most dreadful day has to go to Statsy, who although he picked up 8 points, actually lost 60% of his team with the elimination of Canada. With the remaining schedule dwindling and several teams eliminated, it's going to become harder for people to make up ground. We're getting down to the nitty-gritty now!

Today's totals:

Tade - 14
Khabby - 11
WeThreeKings - 11
Huffman - 10
Statsy - 8
AwesomePanthers - 7
Tomsburninghat - 7
Canada4Gold - 4
