When I watch the Caps I see a team that McPhee wants to be the Boston Bruins so bad.Physically the Caps are in fine shape and on paper one of the bigger teams in the league. .

I think this current forward core is clearly one of the biggest in the league.

Difference with Boston is that they have big, physical and defensively good D's along with best goaltender in the league. While we are rotating undersized kids/AHL'ers/Erskine in our D. They also have similar player as Green in Krug but they are sheltering him alot. Any of Seidenberg/Boychuk/Hamilton/Meszaros could walk into Caps top-4, and McQuid/Miller/Bartkowski would easily get to the bottom-pairing here.

Just thought the other day watching Bruins-Flyers that what kind of impact having Dougie Hamilton would have to this team... he'll be pretty good replacement to them whanever Chara retires.

Big doesn't equal good. Our big forwards are not good along the boards (except for the 3rd line), and really are not physical outside of Wilson.

Bruins have guys who win puck battles and will beat you physically. We don't do either, regardless of our size.

Visited DC for the first time this past week and caught the games against Boston and Dallas. Was somewhat shocked just how bad the Caps were, looked more like a lottery team than one fighting for the playoffs. Impressed with the Ward-Fehr-Chimera line but everyone else was dreadful.

Any light at the end of the tunnel? Good prospects? Met some nice people there so have grown a little soft spot for the club now.

They're 3-4 moves and a good coaching staff away from being a legit Cup contender, IMO. The organization and team have just become stale with mismanagement. Look how quickly St. Louis, Dallas, and Colorado have turned it around recently with management and coaching changes. The Caps have more to work with than those teams did.
