Could have changed the game if we got that call, especially if it was a penalty shot.

A PP might not have mattered with how bad it was tonight.
Still its the principle, I dont think hall went to the school of clarkson skating to just stumble on his own on a breakaway. Mix that with the last couple games we been getting hosed on penalties as well

He hasn’t just got back he’s played plenty of games already. I was all for the “he just came back” argument at the 10 game mark but we’re at 15 or 16 now and he’s still a steaming pile of crap

This was his 11th game of the year. Yeah, he was bad, but so were a lot of others. I actually thought he looked pretty good the last game. I'm still willing to give him 15-20 games before I seriously start to worry.

There's just too many stupid mistakes. In this game it's Santini and Greene, in another it's Moore... and when Cory isn't perfect there is no chance for a W. Hayes and Boyle together on the PP makes you wonder too. It would be good at least to sit Greene for a couple of games, but we don't have anybody to play instead. The Mueller injury hurts badly, he was really getting better and better. All in all, we still have to see this season as a learning process and as a step up in the right direction. But consistency is definitely missing. Problem is, the older guys like Greene, Stafford and Zajac are more of a problem than the younger guys at this point.

Get Zajac off the team for Christ's sake!!!

He's responsible for the 4-3 goal and it's his fault and only his. Can't believe that was a veteran player like him. It's like he's completely forgotten how to play hockey and it has nothing to do with injuries.

Good lord, I didn’t say any of this. My only point is that trotting out Cory’s save percentage numbers is not going to do anything to convince me that Cory is a better than average goalie.

Cory's middle of the pack in save percentage this year and was poor in save percentage last year which jives with his play and the 'eye test' in both cases, it's not that flawed a stat. For goalies I still think it's the most important indicator far more than GAA or wins (both more team functions).

Hall said he just fell and it wasn’t a result of the stick so..:yeah.

I kind of thought he took a dive myself but didn't want to be jumped on by the masses here. The stick didn't even clip his skate, it tapped him on the side of the ankle.

To be somewhat fair, the entire PK broke down on that goal. Zajac couldn't clear, Gibbons took himself out of position trying to block a shot/pass, then both D took Panarin, who made a pretty slick backhand pass to a wide open Wennberg.

This was definitely his worst game of the year though. Which is disappointing since I thought he actually played pretty solidly against them on Tuesday.

How else should we judge them then? Are you gonna argue with me that Kinkaid hasn't been bad? He lets in a softy a game! Schneider hasn't averaged a softy per game, I know that much. Saying this stat has no context is like the Sharks fan who tried to rationalize that Jannik Hansen is really not playing poorly, despite having just one point in 17 games this season. He did get point number 2 last night though!

Kinkaid looks like twilight era Marty, who was probably averaging close to a softy per game by 13-14.

I happen to believe that over a larger sample size, the goalie's with the lower save percentages, let in more stoppable goals. Just turn on a Rangers game. Why is Lundqvist's save percentage declining the past few seasons? Do you think that's on accident? If you watch him, there's a lot of more ****ty goals going in on him than past seasons. Turn on a Carolina game, Darling lets in putrid goals left and right, and he's got a save percentage that's barely above 90% to show for it.

If save percentage means nothing, maybe we should have played Marty more than Cory in 13-14 and maybe we should have brought him back in 14-15, so he didn't have to retire with another team!

Okay, if you don't wanna use save percentage as a argument, then maybe I'll pretend that Cory didn't play badly last year when he had a .908 save percentage. Maybe he was just unlucky? You've already used his play the last two years against him, so what made you use last year's play against him? The low save percentage? Or the bad goals? The bad goals are backed up by the low save percentage....

Even the good goalies allow bad goals sometimes. I can give you LOADS of examples of it from prime Marty. Did he really only allow a weak goal twice a season in his prime? Or Roy? Or Hasek?

Look at the shot chart from last night. I don't care what goalie is in net. Chances from these spots are going to go in no matter whose in the net

One good thing is they will come out swinging against the Rangers. So we split 2 games with the Blue Jackets.
We are still an exciting team on the way up.

Didn't watch the game, am I right to say zajac and Greene sucked and cory let in a softy or 2 and was just borderline average?

Hall definitely got a stick to the ankle which caused him to toepick.

Honestly, I think the reason he didn't throw a fit is because he's done that every other time and the non-calls against him have just gotten worse. I think he is a guy with a reputation with refs around the league and he is trying to change it. Had that happened last season, I think he would have went ballistic.

I sure as shit haven't read this whole thread, but I see tons of bitching about Boyle and Hayes on the powerplay, when both guys were fine. I don't see any bitching about Vatanen and Butcher, who are supposed to be quarterbacking the powerplay and establishing possession. Those guys f***ing stunk and were the biggest reason the powerplay looked so bad. We got nothing out of the top line, nothing out of Vatanen, and watching Werenski score on us while Zacha watched in a suit was a goddamn kick in the teeth.

Did anyone see Bratt's kick pass? That was sick.

Everything Brattman does on the ice is sick.

Greene and Travis have become weak links on this team.

Brutal home loss after a very good first period.

Cory can't have nights like this in key division games or we will be sinking fast.

Just a pathetic loss.

And enuff of this bull crap of sitting PZ.

Take useless Stafford out already.

Hynes favoritism towards over the hill vets is costing this team points.

The issue is not both on the power play neccesarily, the issue is both ON THE SAME PP LINE. I get Hayes as the 'big body screener' in theory but why do you need that when Boyle's already on the ice? That's just sacrificing too much skill on open ice.

And if you think they were fine on the PP you didn't watch the joke of a four-minute double-minor in the third period. Having them together at even strength is one thing if you can put them up against lines where they can play a slow-tempo game, but not when you need skill and quick passing on open ice.
