So you guys have not seen the movie and are ALREADY complaining?

Leaks have been available since July and proven themselves to be pretty damn exact and it is getting obliterated by reviews.

I think the mood here is appropriate, especially considering what is going on other big forums that have had thousands of posts since the reviews dropped at 3 am.

You mean big plot moments/emotional moments may not mean as much when you don't have the context of the entire film around it?? Consider me shocked!

Also, nothing is Attack of the Clones level bad. Literally nothing.

Normaly I'd agree with you, I thought the same way after reading the leaks "execution is what matters, this could turn out fine".

It hasn't.

Who gives a damn about reviews or leaks?

See the damn movie and then make a judgment.

The internet culture is so infuriating sometimes. Confirmation bias at its finest.

I still can't understand how they leak the whole f***ing movie... I don't remember anything significant leaked before TLJ.

People that know JJ is probably on the outs after this and don't give a f*** anymore. Those leakers are heroes for tempering expectations.

You can dislike the movie all you want, but this kind of hyperbole is silly.

It said "No" which was fun but failed to introduce an alternative. It just spiked the football. It's a lame ass movie.

I dunno. I thought I was being kind. Movie seemed to “subvert expectations just for the sake of subverting expectations in scene after scene; long drawn out casino scene was pointless, etc.,”. But again, just my opinion. Movie likely will end up still making a billion (Rise of Skywalker that is).

That was one of my biggest issues. It subverted expectations so many times, that I just expected whatever I saw next to be subverted. It's only clever when it's done sparingly and with the right timing. Like the Vader/Luke/father moment in ESB.

First of all, I've got my ticket for Saturday evening.

I and many others have known the plot and how the movie unfolds for a while now: once the leaks came out people were instantly worried. Now that the reviews are indicating that this movie is going to be the lowest rated one in the franchise, concerns are warranted.

When the leaks and the reviews converge, there is something to it. No point in running away from it.

I'm not a hater, I am very easy to please.

Yeah, that was a problem for sure.

Some stuff was clever I thought, I liked the idea of Rey's parents being nobody for instance. Luke throwing the light saber and a few other things like that felt too much like trying to do the unexpected rather than just tell a story.

In Finland this movie came out already and in finnish hockey forum (jatkoaika.com) users seems to think that this movie is the best out of these new ones (episode 7-9). Personally I also liked it, but they put so much stuff in it that it could easily been made as two movies.

I watched some more of the leaked scenes, and I liked some of them. I'm betting it'll be just like Revenge of the Sith. Jump from one thing to the next, cramming stuff in there, not enough time for the plot to be fully developed, but plenty enjoyable to watch, even on repeat viewings. Just how I thought the PT didn't do a good job of depicting Anakin's fall to the dark, I doubt this will do a good job of depicting Palp's return.

Yeah, it's not that all of it was bad and unclever. Rey's parents being nobody is fine. Kylo killing Snoke was great, but this one is more dependent on an actual endgame being planned for the next movie. Kylo proposing to end the Sith and Jedi and for Rey to join him in that path would've been great if they followed through on it, but Rian just subverted our expectations on that one.

Luke throwing his lightsaber away was the greatest moment in Star Wars history.

Nah, Luke force projecting himself across the galaxy "only" to buy time for the rest of the good guys to get away was. I'm honestly shocked at how thrilling that moment is everytime I watch TLJ.

Yeah, of TLJ moments that's the one that should be iconic.

Unfortunately Rey joining Kylo, even for just one movie, is one those things that sounds interesting but once you break it down and try to "path it" it falls apart.

How are you going to tell a compelling story when Rey is the protagonist. It would have required handling Poe and Finn very differently and it happening in the final movie would have been clunky.
