He's pretty clearly not up-to-date with our cap situation, we have a cap crunch of sorts coming up with Pettersson and Hronek's extensions kicking in. There's 0 chance we can afford Reinhart (And beyond that, why would he leave the perfect situation for him in Florida? He'll probably take a slight pay cut and extend there)

I wanted to see the verbal gymnastics that poster was gonna come up with regarding the bolded.

Tampa is going to low ball Stamkos at a value his ego just won’t be able to accept.

He’ll take a discount but Tampa is gonna cross a line that he just won’t do is my guess.

We’re not gonna be able to keep Reinhart. Dudes having a monster season in a contract year. Will….rather, “should” easily get $10M

I think Stamkos ends up staying in Tampa and Reinhart signs a stupid contract with the Canucks.
6x8 wouldn't be bad if they clear enough cap space but they really only have hronek and Hughes for defense but Reinhart would give them a very dope and deep forward core

I have no problem signing Reinhart to 10x7. If he wants more, then let him go there.

He can speed up our rebuild and then still be part of it.

Reino's getting absolutely paid by someone.
Someone's going to really regret that, really quickly too.

stamkos to toronto for below market would be a ton of fun just because of the chaos it would cause. also because the last thing the leafs need is a pp specialist winger lol

reinhart seems like a classic "this contract in ufa won't age well", but i assume florida will keep him at a very reasonable rate by offering the 8th year and he'll play up to that.

I think 8 years, 9M for Reinhart, he falls in just behind Tkachuk, it's a good situation for him there.

Stamkos? No idea.

He blinked the last time with Tampa, I could see him taking a cheap 1-3 year deal there or get a decent 1-2 year deal elsewhere.

Unless you meant it more 8 million over 6, that's not possible to ever entertain.

Would love for Vancouver to sign Reinhart but it ain't happening. He'd look real good really good with Pettersson or Miller feeding him.

Reinhart will get between 11M-12M on the open market.

If he hasn't signed in Florida now, it is less likely that he is open to taking a discount. Florida has the 8th year, and they have advantages due to taxes. If this guy has any sense of an ego, he wants more than Tkachuk, who he has outplayed this season. Nobody gets more than Barkov. Even someone with an ego knows that.

8 years 9.75M to stay with Florida.

That would be an absolutely insane contract to give out to a soon to be 29 year old who’s career high before this year was 33 goals and 82 points.

I know, but it's free agency and GMs aren't exactly stakeholders in the long-term ramifications of contracts, considering most only last a couple of years. Whoever signs Reinhart to that contract isn't likely to be around for the back-half of it, regardless of whether Reinhart is or isn't good during the first-half.

The cap is going up. GMs are going to go nuts. We saw this every off season before the flat cap.
